That was for investment casting (Lost Wax process). I got a cheaper quote (not by much) for CNC'd/anodized handles. I think I will order some.

Well, I sprung for several pairs of the handles and I only had them done in 100mm (4") which will bolt up to the 700B and the Clair models. I will have a few sets extra but they are expensive to get done. They are being CNC'd, drilled and tapped for 10-32 and then anodized silver. They should look very nice. But, at $125 a pair, they should be. Hell, I paid that much for a nice set of originals so........

I'll be putting a set on "the enforcers" for sure.

They should be delivered in the next couple weeks.

That's probably as cheap as you'll get without a run of a thousand or so....

If anybody is interested, I am taking pre-orders on the 10 pairs of 700B and Clair handles (They are 700B style and 100mm center to center). They are not cheap but if you want a NEW REPRODUCTION set of CNC's and anodized silver handles, they will be $120 with free shipping for a pair. They are tapped and drilled for 10/32 and I think I have bolts and nuts already. Sorry about the price but like Lee said, if ya don't order 1000 at a time, the price will kill ya.

Please PM me if interested. I don't know if these will be done again so..................... First come gets the 10 available sets.

They should be ready by about 29 August. I'll get them in the mail as soon as they are received.

Thanks guys

P

almost done.... Heading to anodizing.. Notice they are a little beefier at the base. I plan on doing another bolt pattern (spacing) if they won't fit the 400. It's only another few millimeters but with the slop of the faceplate holes, they will probably fit.

I'll be flipping this over to the For Sale Section soon. Only offering a few sets though. I have about 15 sets going to my builds.

ah bummer, the 3 13/16 " spacing didn't work out? Oh well that's great work getting those made! good job!
We don't know if they'll fit. With the slop of the old 400 Faceplate (they are also 1/4 or 5/16th's hole size) and the new handles are 10-32, there may be 3/16" room. I may have some made if there is interest.

Is there enough meat at the base like you talked about to have them simply drilled for the 400's?

Yes, that's why I did it. I was going to order them undrilled so we could do them for 700B/Clair amps, or drill for 400's. The machine shop said there was no way to hang them to anodized the handles so I just had them drill for 100mm. They needed a hole to dangle them in the corrosive jizz. I'll see if they will drill for the 400 and snag a few more sets. The price is kinda steep so you better make sure you want a set or two.

I think I figured out (using Navy math), that we only had to move the holes inward .04 inches on each hole in the handle to fit the 400

That ain't much and with the existing 400 Faceplate holes being about 5/16", it may work as is.

That's a good point, you might not have to at all.

I would like to replace my 2nd 400 with a 700b ideally and would definitely like the handles to match

When the handles arrive in a week or so, I'll send you a set to try on the 400. If they fit, great, if not, I'll have the next set drilled accordingly.

I have sold off several sets already so it should not take long to get them done.. did you find a 700B candidate for building or were you just going to get one already WOPL'd?

Awesome, thanks!

I don't have one in mind, It would be fully White Oak'd eventually but progressively. In terms of approval of the wife, it would be much easier for me to get one that needs building and then build it rather than a single purchase.

They are done and being shipped tomorrow. All anodized and ready to go. Looks like they turned out spiffy. This stash should last me for a while minus the few I sold.
