I passed out at my desk last night. Just got off work and eating dinner. I've got the transistors left to put on the board then in she goes. It should be ok, i've tested the output section and all; is well there.
The long work hours and cold temps. are working against you, Lee. I would take a shot or two of your favourite nightcap and get a solid rest... unless you can last until the weekend.

It's Wednesday, I'll make er to the weekend. Have a reprieve tomorrow with Dinner at Kabub and Sarah's new house. No work tomorrow unless it's a dire emergency.

Something like: "We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark, and we're wearing sunglasses." sounds just about right.
Sorry to be offline for so long but I finally upgradey my desktop computer. New Intel i5-2500K processor (LGA 1155 format), requires a new Intel DZ68DB motherboard, new motherboard only supports SATA not PATA so CD drive with audio output is oboslete and requires a new HP CD-DVD reader/writer, new motherboard also requires 16 GB of DDR3 133MHz memory modules. New system won't run Windows XP Professional, so upgrade to Windows 7, new Windows 7 won't run Microsoft Office 2003, so upgrade to Office Professional 2010. Makes you wonder if these companies are all in cahoots with each other.

Scott we're making progress. When the realys in the DC protect shorted it took some other stuff. that has been chased down but now I'm getting some intermittent stuff that's driving me nuts. Just a matter of time before i whip it. And BTW the major portion of this is on me, it was MY hand that slipped on the sig generator and stressed everything so bad. Managed to get an output too. Scott were those 21196's from a reputable dealer like Mouser or Digi-Key? Some don't look right but that's not a solid clue anymore.

Lee,

Sorry to hear that this is turning into a headache for you. On the 21996's, yes I got them from Digikey or Mouser, can't remember which. I've seen too many issues with counterfeits to try anyone else. Are all the output resistors ok?

Regards,
Scott

Yep all emitter resistors are Ok. I did notice one had been replaced. THIS IS NOT aheadache, it's a challenge and I thrive on em, just don't want you worrying or getting frustrated about the amount of time it's taking. The sad and exceptionally disappointing part is that it was running, and beautifully. Of course this is a first for this failure mechanism, so no history to go off of and sometimes I spin my wheels but eventually get traction. Besides, got a soft spot for this one too, it is a Series I..............

Mark I have all outputs out, only drivers and I still have a high current draw. The front end comes around and gets control with about 8-9Mv of offset. Consider everything as this board may not be right. Had to replace the little voltage regulators.

Hi Lee
What is your clue for detecting the high current draw you are referring to? Are you getting excessive heating going on some where or on some component? Fuse blowing? Measured line current?
