Michael, I know it's been 4 days since i said I would get the care package out. Cause---I was waiting on an amp to raid some parts. New outputs, MJ 21196's .

Care package contains,
4----------TIS-97's--matched
2----------TIS-93's--matched
2----------MPSA-93's--matched
4----------2N3439's----Q5, Q10
2----------2N5416's----Q7
2----------5K trimmer pots----R20
2----------2--KZ caps 470uf at 25 volts, with 1N4148 Gepetto fix diodes, and 2 .01uf caps to bypass the big cap.
6----------heatsinks for the TO-5 transistors. The stock are wholly inadequate.
4----------47uf at 25 volt Nichicon KZ caps for C15, C16
2----------47uf at 100 volt for C11.
2----------RCA-410 drivers
20--------MJ 21196 outputs.

Anything else?? If not , as soon as I get the shipping cost I'll PM the bill.
Lee, I`m reviewing the parts list. Is this in addition to the list you PM`d me which had 2x Q6/2n5028 to replace 3403, Q8/1304 and Q9/1305?

And yes, implementing Joe's grounding scheme is a very good Idea, Go With Grace Grasshopper...

The pin outs are going to be different!!! Assume that on every sub you EVER do. That way you will have the data sheet printed out and looking at it when ya need it. I use a B & K 510 transistor tester to cheat with. It identifies EBC and the pin out all at once. 20.00- 30.00 on E-Bay and worth every penny.
Go With Dignity Grasshopper....

:confused2: Pin outs are going to be different? :confused2: On all of them?
I`m afraid I lack the necessary grey matter to identify such things, is a tester the only way? What kind would you recommend?

Easy Grasshopper, get some data sheets on what is coming your way. Q1-Q4 will be the ones you need to research. Q5,Q7,Q8,Q9,Q10 will be the same.. I didn't send the 5088's but I will next week. Use the 3403's till the 5088's get there.

So pin outs vary from manufacturer to manufacturer? What if manufacturer is unknown?

Prior to testing driver board transistors, I researched the pin outs of the existing transistor part #`s and took notes. Q`s 1,2,3 and 4 pin as EBC

The replacement Qs 1,2 and 3 pin as CBE and Q4 changing package style from TO5 to TO92.
Does that seem right? This is the kind of thing that freaks me out:confused2:

Q4 has always been TO-92. If I referred to Q4 being TO-5, that was a typo. TIS-97CBE. TIS-93--CBE, MPSA-93's--EBC

If the manufacturer is unknown, go to the diode test on your meter and determine if it's PNP, or NPN. You already know how to do that. The B-E junction will read less tha the B-C junction. THIS IS NOT cast in stone, but with all small signal transistors I have worked with it's true.

Thanks, thanks and thanks once more.
And now for something completely different: what are your thoughts on bypass capacitors on the filter caps?

That's done on the BR with .01uf polypro caps. 4 of them, one for each 2 spades.

Those polypros are the same ones I sent to bypass C6. Shoulda thrown some more in I guess.

Accross the backwall between the common emitter resistor post and the base bus bar on the left(Positive) row.

Grasshopper....how are you progressing?/ Is your spirit in tune with that of the device and the world around you?/
