    Cheap cassettes at *Warmalt

X2 on the DAK tape - I tried one years ago, and it was awful. Also, years ago, I think it was back in the "Sound Thinking" days, I was sent up-to-date TDK D and SA cassettes for review. I was surprised at how good the "D" sounded, and I think it was much newer than those I had heard before...

    Cheap cassettes at *Warmalt

I don't think I've recorded a cassette since the 1980's. I keep a good deck (Denon) around just in case I want to play a tape, of which I have too many. I may as well offer all my blanks here for sale. My main sources these days are NRK Radio, Ewetoob, FM and CD...an LP once in a while and a...

    Friggin’ gravity…

That may have been standard back in the day, and that track looks like it may be that old. At least, it gets little traffic. Here's how it's done nowadays:

Knew that...threw it in there for effect or just because I was on a roll.

We went "Under Contract" this morning

Around here, it's dirt, clay, shale and then limestone all the way down... There are old and new limestone quarries all over the metro, and I was once told that the Kansas City area has as much acreage below ground as above. They are used for warehousing, storage and even industry. Semi-trucks...

Power conditioners are not required for high-end components

A couple of years ago, I got a medical-grade isolation transformer in a swap at an audio meet. It was noisy, so I put new thermistors in it, and it was then quiet. I have nine things plugged into its nine outlets, and just by ear the sonic backgrounds are darker and quieter. Your junior sales...

I just checked Denison, IA on Bing Maps - about four hours from here. Doable.

    The Rarest Electrostatic Speaker?

I have the DVP-S7000 - great machine! I pulled it from a pile of DVD players stacked like cordwood at a thrift store - thirty bucks. It is one of my better scrounges, but then, most of my gear is scrounged.

Have you bought your back-up supply of tubes, yet?

I read this thread, and decided to see if 6112 tubes were offered on that auction site. Yup - so I won't need to send my tube buffer to Musical Fidelity when the ten thousand hours are up.

    New Music and Music Genres

At the local Salvation Army store today, I found a CD called "WARM." It's an acronym of the last names of the four musicians on it, including Mike White who my wife used to work for as a secretary. Kansas City jazz at its best! It's a lovely recording too, at the thrift $1.99. EDIT: I was...
