Thanks guys. I do believe that I can use a modern equivalent, but I'll have to sort out a few things like whether or not it's logarithmic/linear, voltage capability and whether or not I can safely turn a dual section 100k/100k into a 100k/250k with a series resistor. This controls the B+ grid...

Fine engineering takes the parts and refines a design to get optimal results. Parts do not usually quantify a good product. For a marketing or "rat in the head" perspective, parts are very important. I think this way when people say ALL paper cones are trash, for example.
