Further upgrading my first built WOPL, a 400 S1 8 fin, with a few goodies.

So, back to it Got the DCP standoffs installed. Don has been including these for some time, this is a older unit.

Yepper - mine came through with these and it sure makes for some needed "breathing space" between those boards. I'm impressed that you're revisiting your good work George. I've been holding off from going back in, a year later, but there have so many mods that you all have come up with since. I'll bite the bullet someday, but in the meantime I'll keep building the "WOPL do-list"!

This week I remembered I wanted to rewire the 120 VAC in this unit to a new configuration. These amps were made with a non polarized power cord, so the fuse is in one leg and the thermal breaker is on the other leg.
WOPLs deserve a polarized cord at the minimum, and a IEC socket is best. So I'll wire the Neutral directly to the transformer primary using the new terminal strip. Line will go to the fuse holder tip, then from the fuse holder base to the thermal breaker. From the thermal breaker, to the terminal strip and the other transformer primary.

Wiring finished. The two thin white wires on the terminal strip are AC for the LED board. The black/white is neutral, red/white is line. Note the JB Weld around the IEC socket and the orientation of the socket keeping it away from chassis screws
Time to walk the dog. Border collies need lots of walks!

you gotta show me when i do mine...please

Gene will do. I have a old thread on installing a IEC in a 400 posted, thanks to Mark L. for the part #s and guidance(we miss having you here Mark L.). Also have photos and how to in the 700 Pro build thread, used a different socket, but mechanics are the same.
Just study the threads and photos, and we'll answer any questions. There are 375 posts under "WOPL Building".
Next, I need to trim my transformer bolts to proper length.

So my DCP screws bottom out on the speaker jack solder lugs. I put the lock washer and nuts on first, then the standoff, good to go.
Gene, note that R1, R2, C8, C9 have been removed from the DCP. These components comprise what's called a Zobel Network and get removed when using the WOAD backplanes, as Joe has it built into those back plane boards.

ok...i remember reading that .... dont exactly remember where...\
help me find an 8 fin...i still want 2....
i have this documented now...i did get the backplanes...
he has not shipped them yet...i am sure he is collecting parts so it can be in one box....
it will get here when it gets here....
the parts you sent me are in miami now...but not yet processed into the box correos system....
so, with any luck...by the end of the week....i should have all of my parts and the dac that vsat89 sent me...
getting there!!!

On the rear of every computer power supply. Takes a special one for the 400s. Gene, sent you two and a package of JB Weld. Going to be interesting if it all gets through customs.
Time for yard work, the sun's burned off the dew. Should have a little time this evening to work on the amp. I have a DC ground wire to the DCP bundled with the AC. A big no no. Have to fix that. I have to admit I was pretty lost when I built this one. Later.

Or just buy the upgrade chassis that comes with the IEC plus a few other goodies...

please dont say that....lol
this is an all or nothing deal....if there is one thing customs deems inappropriate....they keep it all...
i have learned that if i ship something sketchy....i send it by itself....
and the worst part....it depends on who the agent is about how your stuff gets classified....one lot of transistors recently was classified differently that another lot of the same value transistors...
i ordered new hood struts....as mine are too weak to hold up the hood....it was classified as two pieces of metal...
i guess they dont know what they are...
lol....
anyway....it is all good...i am very blessed.....now with new friends looking out for me here at phoenix....I DO APPRECIATE IT...JUST TRYING TO LEARN!!

i just paid my bills on the 10th....internet...2 cell phones...2 water...electricity...my health insurance...jerrys health insurance....
249 dollars....i know some things are a pain here...but, it evens out...no place is perfect....i feel i am in the top 5....lol
if you are conservative....it can pay off...the more i save...the more i have for my toys....lol

before i started paying attention....and put in the solar hot water and solar panels....my electricity bill was about what my total bills are now...
