The second photo is the audiophile grade lead bender. Made of jet-age 6061 aluminum and cryogenically treated for grain alignment and lowest possible noise.
Mine dates to the pioneer days of the Golden West, hand hewn from genuine pine! After all these years it still works flawlessly.

I attempted soldering some smd electrolytics last night and couldn’t do it…. Gonna have to regroup and try again, gotta look for the flux paste and chisel tip for my hakko clone. SOIC chips like that have a fairly wide pitch to the leg spacing and aren’t too hard to do. I may link the video I watched on Stereo2go about it

but.... am I the only one here who still bends resistor legs by hands without the help of any specific tool?

That is F A N C Y!

It even does different sizes!

I only needed one size (mostly) and this avoids bending it to the wrong width, which I would do if I had options…

well now I know I've been doing 'em wrong...... I just bend em sorta by hand and pull the leads thru the board until taught

I knew it...do they have a feeder magazine on them?
Yes Lee, the bales that I swing up out of the way hold the reel with the tape and reel components on them. Those are the aluminum bar and rod in the picture

Jani wants to know what's with the big nuts Joe??
I had a goofball friend who got one of those from a streetlight base.
I still wonder if that light ever toppled over into traffic.
