Maybe I should try turning the amp right down, and hook the line outs from the pc into the amp, and control the volume via the amp pots? This would bypass the pioneer pre-amp....thoughts??

I don't think you preamp is weak D2, my Perreaux takes about to 3 to start getting loud and then the power just starts jumping out with each little incremental turn. Fun stuff!!!! I still have not taken the WOPL500 to her max yet, I have no clue how far I can go since the CV's internal protections kick in, I even upped the speaker fuses on the backs of the CV's to 5A fastblo. Theoretically, I have 3 amps more to go with the amp since I am running 8's in the line fuses

You are still welcome to borrow the NAD if you want

Derek: You did a great job in following the steps laid out to you. I really enjoyed these past two days of PL Countdown.

Nice job of coaching Derek through the final stages of breathing life into his new amp, Lee, Joe, and George!

Nando.

I get to 3 oclock on the amp dials before I start fearing for the speakers, that's with a line out signal from the PC, does that sound right?

If your at 3 o'clock, the computer signal is a little weak. Your speakers would already be roasted with the NAD at 3 o'clock. When you run a separate preamp, your want the amp dials maxed
Well there is plenty of headroom there that's for sure!!!! =))))))))))

Agreed, Ron. My house would be on fire with a WOPL at 3 oclock position.
