I'm kicking myself for not taking pics of all of it during all of last week while I was there, but I was so busy being gobsmacked, I just didn't think of it!
It was a sort of a trade show, and I was so busy chatting with the guys from Nexo, and Digico, and RCF, Quest, and the list goes on and on….
There were people from all over the planet representing their stuff that are being distributed here by Group Technologies, who my mate owns. So it was quite the privilege chatting with these blokes.
Anyway, see wot develops. There's been a couple of job offers even, but I think these people must think I'm somebody else…. heh heh heh… way too intellectual for my liking.
OK, this is how I see it…. When I fell off the map 15 years ago, it was like I had died, and every time my name came up in conversation, good things were said. Well it's like as if I became legendary status…. but now that I've 'woken up', and come back, lots of people are asking me to jump on board, because of the 'legend'.
BUT, I really don't think I can live up to that status somehow, and it's left me thinking very hard as to wot to do about it. Jeez, I've even been offered a job lecturing at Melbourne Uni for people trying to make the transition from analogue to digital!
Now u know…. It's a total mind phk for me right now….

It's all sooooo embarrassing.

I'm in a similiar situation at work. The "legend" has bad shoulders now and doesn't like to put in 12-16 hour days anymore and I have been not as involved as I was but that's not working out because no one is around to replace what I bring to the table...

You however just have to burn some Midnight Oil and get back in the game...you know you can get caught up if you apply yourself...and think ....as a stud duck you don't have to hump gear, just poiunt that finger and plug shit in...

I just need to get a set of speakers that can take all that Sally has to deliver. The 300W CV's sound awesome but it bugs me that I can't use all of Sally

Then it will be on to a pair that can take a WOPL1000 all the way whee one finally comes home

I'm extremely shocked that BD is considering selling his stuff, that old gear has 'soul' I hope that if he does sell it he doesn't regret it later down the track.

I'm thinking of selling an audio 'piece' that I paid $2000 for 10 years ago, would be lucky to get $200 for it now, so I ask myself is being sentimental worth that $200? hmmm. Well considering desperate measures that need to be taken, I should get rid of it and take it on the chin.

It sounds like things are going well for you and that makes me smile. It's so cool that your past life is creeping into your present one - of course I'm assuming only the good parts tho. You don't want those unmentionable previous events coming back to haunt you - at least I wouldn't.

Trying to find my business mind is my main obstacle at the moment.
It's all corporate level stuff now, which we didn't have back then. I'm clueless….
I was just a sound guy back then. Now u have to be a Rocket Scientist too!

If the rest of the mind is there the business end will follow - or something like that. You'll do fine - just baffle them with old war stories whilst getting back on track. You've been out of the business for quite a while so it's understandable that things have changed - probably a lot. I've seen it in the arena that I'm in and if I was away for that long I'd be lost too. If all else fails - use braille. Pick the cute one tho...
