We agree again Gene.
My thoughts on the balanced inputs is how can I cover the large holes drilled for the sockets?

Parts enroute from Joe are as follows:
3 X warm white light bar kits.
2 X PS cap upgrade kits
1 X control board kit
1 X backplane kit.

Currently awaiting an invoice from Don for the DC protect kits(I won't hookup speakers without)

Thanks for that reminder.
Here's a couple of things I wasn't expecting.
1. Balanced inputs on both units..... Dunno how I can make that look good
2. My 4 finner didn't have this PCB anywhere so I guess I'm asking is it a Oz add on?

Pretty standard for studio or live PA work.

Wow, awesome setup man!
How are you using the three 400s in that setup?
a member, george, suggested a triamp setup .... sine i had a few amps..when i built the speakers i installed the xovers externally..easily removed...i got a dsp (dayton audio 408) with active xover, mixer, and parametric equalizer...i have my old 4 fin driving the woofers, the 8 fin driving the mids, my pl 200 driving the tweeters, with the full wopl driving the voigt pipes...i use 2 schiit dacs and preamps wired to the dsp....one for each speaker set...as i told you ..these guys know a lot....
it really fills the room with music ...
was the rail fuse blown??

You can get plastic and/or metal plugs from McMaster-Carr to plug extra holes.

No blown fuses however I will check them again with the dmm when I get home from work. Probably check the transistors whilst I'm there.
Also are some transformers better than others and if so how do I test them?
(I might as well white oak the good one)

Some transformers are "hotter" than others. measure rail voltage to tell...

Ok visual check on fuse condition is good there does seem to be something strange though. All fuses in both amps are 32mm long, my understanding was that AGX fuses are 25mm long. Your thoughts?
Also I have never tested them with a dmm before, am guessing use diode or continuity setting?
Also measuring rail voltage is done by black dmm lead on star ground and red lead on either fuses to get reading?

Just opened up the the working unit.
Looks like things got a little hot in there at some point!

Apart from the obvious is there anything else looking abnormal at the moment?

Gotta try and remember how to check bias now......

rail fuses should be 5amp agx (1 ")...should be two...
110v fuse is 5amp agc (1 1/4")...check with ohm setting or continuity setting of dvm...
make sure fuses are not automotive...ie NOT 32V..... easiest way to check rail is set meter to dc voltage....put black lead on common lead between big caps...then red lead on each of other big cap terminals...one will be a positive reading and other is negative reading...be careful...shorting those out can be a negative experience...i have pics in my thread called phase linear 400 that joe explains where leads go to check bias...i will look for you...
