Who has Decks and What Kind

Nick: Good call on acquiring the V661. Let us know when it arrives and how you find it in comparison to your present V531.

Nando.

It will be interesting to hear what sort of quality you get when you play back those tapes that I recorded for you. I must admit the V661 does better on TDK/Maxell tapes than BASF (however I did not have any "decent" TDK chromes to spare due to budget constraints). Let me know what deck you play them back on.

I rarely run tapes but when I do, I use a a/d/s C2/3. I have a couple cool older JVC's that I got from a studio that closed in Hartford about 10 years ago, Also have a CT-F700 that needs some TLC in the future

This deck was purchased in about 2007. I found it at the St. Joseph thrift store, here in town, for $15. It's the first Nakamichi deck I owned. I have acquired two more since then, a Nakaimichi BX-100, which was gifted to me, and just, recently, I bought a nice BX-150 from Innovative Audio with a portion of my store credit. This RX-505 has been sitting idle awaiting a back-ordered Dolby chip for over a year. The tech I brought it to, has all the original factory parts to service my deck, with the exception of that chip. I used it as a playback deck for about four years. A very nice deck, and I can't wait to have it back from its repairs.

Fantastic score Nando! Those are worth quite a bit, an outstanding machine from what I hear, very much the same quality as a the BX-300 I am planning to purchase in the future. Only difference is the BX-300 is direct drive, I have been assured by a nak expert that even though this difference is there, they both sound around the same in quality. I need the pitch control which is why I am going the BX-300.

A 575? You got me there - I don't know of that model.

Nando.

Did I get this post in the wrong spot or did I mean to type Sony-the same VHS Hi-Fi model as you showed?

With the hinged control door over the tape bay?

I wish vB wouldn't let you roll back and end up double posting?

Mystery solved. I hope my Sony works OK, as I just bought a ten pack of sealed Sony ED tapes for $10 two days ago, and another twenty tapes await me next week. That should be a good enough start.

Nando.

When I manage to find my infoLithium charger for the Mavicas I'll be posting a lot of pictures.

Trying to buy enough of them to warrant finding someone to make me a bunch of take- up reel motors. :toothy10: Got a CTF 950 that I am trying to procure as well. I'm sure the belts and/ or motor is shot in that one as well. They are such lovely beasts.

Not an endless list, but a few pictures of some of it:

Miles: The Denon must be your most recent deck you bought. I don't know much about that one - but, I, certainly, know about your others. A nice collection, and you work them as they were meant to be used. No shelf-queens in your collection!

Nando.

I didn't bought it, someone gave it to me....

You've probably missed this one one on Tapeheads:

Miles: Yes, unfortunately, I did miss your post on TH. It's a cool looking mini-deck with slide-out cassette tray, no less. What other info do you have on it: how you came upon it? tape capabilities? recording capabilities, if you've done so?

I recognize your playback tape, too. Nice!

Nando.

Nando,

Nothing fancy, this is just a deck for some simple playing back a tape in my working room every now and then.

It's nice and heavily build, no plastic crap, and it has an automatic tape selector; type I, II and IV, but it hasn't an adjustable bias so I prefer to record on one of the other decks.
However; the VU display is very smooth in white and red......
