Don't you just love the original twisted mess of wires that PL installed? The little things that they did not do that they should have done. That and the one pound pool of solder on most copper input plates when a couple of 0.043" holes punched in that plate would have made all the difference.

They did not do anything over the years of production to re-engineer for ease of manufacturability and higher quality.

To stay consistent and be able to compare results I should rig this one as you are rigging yours then?
Or you can see if you can beat my results :). No real need Lee unless you wish to do so. I would rather see you beat my results.

In this case, it just does not make sense to me. Other than perhaps after they met success with the early builds (you can understand the prototypish nature of the early builds) and they walked away from it rather than putting money back into the company by investing in tooling to do things better.

You did not comment on my OCD heat shrinking :)

That is a trick I use on PL and other equipment that used cheap wire that the insulation melts back on when you solder it. Keeps the insulation in place and neatens up the end appearance.

Well, to be honest the switch was going to be history. Russ is not a purist so that leaves a little creative wiggle room. Just SILVER twisted shielded pair to the pots and back....

A bit of confusion. With 4 jumpers labeled Jmp1-Jmp4 and 4 jumpers.....The pics eliminated the confusion. On the next batch maybe you could label the jumpers JMP 1 in both places where the jumper goes.......

Because the traces narrow to get by the thermoswitch holes?? Why the small diode in the bias circuit?/ Collateral damage preventer?

I'm guessing that is for when the rail fuse goes and the pico fuse doesn't OR in case an output goes Q6 don't go with it, and yes that's my final answer ......#2

Getting close to sealing the deal...

All board wired, lengths recorded for the instructions, etc.

Beautiful board Joe!

Thanks for showing us how to remove the bias transistors from their clamp - good stuff.
Make sure you use the antique tack hammer for the job Dennis. You have to have the correct patina on the hammer for it to work properly :)
