Very cool to know, Jason. I will be sure to let Geri know that because she would be interested in that part of history.

Big pink sits way off the road down a long lane in the middle of nowhere. I truly stumbled on it drivin around smoking 1 . I turned down a tractor path with a no trespassing sign up and about a quarter mile down there it sat. I couldn't believe it... It's not a spot ppl will give you the address.

The Moody Blues - Go Now / The Moody Blues #1
(1965, London) Monarch symbol in the deadwax

I've had this in the to-play queue for awhile but have skipped it because I figured the sound quality (re-channeled?) would be thin/disappointing. And it is. :( interesting music though.

cool story Jason.

I was in Haight Ashbury San Fransisco last year and looked up the Grateful Dead house at 710 Ashbury. This was painted on sidewalk outside the house...

What tipped you off about the sound quality before you even played it?
The lousy reputation for US label pop records from that era. the pop records put out by US labels in the mid 60s are quite often shite sound quality. They knew the average US consumer of pop music was listening on transistor radios and Magnavox consoles, so I think they didn't bother and/or they produced the records to sound like they did on car radios! And stereo releases were often an afterthought - done as mono reprocessed to simulate stereo separation. Some of the early US Stereo Rolling Stones, Beach Boys and Beatles records are other examples.

Those tapes look familiar, Derek. You might have missed it earlier in this thread, but I began listening to your pre-recorded mix tape. You did a nice job on the recording.
