Reckless - No Frills in shrink indie Valentino Records pressed by Atlantic Studios. Killer Hair/Glam Metal from 1987. Classic Les Paul w/ a Marshall JCM800 roar on this semi-HTF lp

Nice...Just got back from doing the San Diego turn around....

Listened to Hair Nation on XM almost the entire trip. Finished off the last bit with the Boneyard.....

Good stuff, Maynard.....

speakerlabfan: I loved seeing all those pictures of your stereo systems. What a great collection of gear you have! And LPs stacked high and wide is what I like to see, too.

Nando.

I agree, Nando. Always nice to see pics of our community's gear and music.

The bigger the JBL, the harder you have to run them.
I used to have to use my 4350's in a rehearsal studio to bring out the best in them.
Down low, you just don't realise their potential.
That's why I only bother with vintage 'small ones' now. At least you can enjoy 'that' sound at their full capacity, and still not upset too many of your neighbours.
I just can't use my 'BIG' JBL's here, and so they've been buried behind the pile of everything else.

Nice collection SLF. (you lucky dawg….) ;)
Thanks bobbysdad. I hear what you're saying but the 4430s are reasonably efficient and are involving/moving to me at less-than-window rattling decibels. Love them. I like that they aren't fussy about placement with the bi-radial horns, it seems like they are going to sound great anywhere in the room. Here's a clip someone posted of them -

I did see that Bubba. Too bad because I really like the Expedits but I hear that the Ikea replacements are OK. Most people don't realize that the things are pretty easy to dis-assemble, move and re-assemble. I can re-assemble a unit in about 15 minutes (and yes, I do assembly in the right configuration so that the thing doesn't fall over and/or collapse). I have picked up all of my Expedits (6 or 7 of them) used through the local craigslist on the cheap. I got a 5x5 unit for free from a guy living in a condo in the Eastlake neighborhood of Seattle who was moving out and just needed it gone. If you're looking for Expedits for record storage, check craigslist furniture and free listings near the end of the month - when people are moving. Best if you're near a big city or college with young people who move around a lot.

While CL is around, its not all that popular in my area. Even in Toronto, Kijiji seems to be more dominant. At least for the buying/selling aspect. I have never seen an Expedit for sale used before. I would jump all over that. I bought my 4x4 new from Ikea. I also had to drive to Toronto for that. Fortunately I'm only about an hour from T.O.

One article I read about it said that Ikea accounts for like 1% of the worlds wood consumption. Makes sense that they are reducing the shelving systems size.

Wouldn't surprise me considering they are responsible for half of the furniture manufactured worldwide every year, Ben. ;) We have Besta, Karlstad and Expedit lines in our home. I am alway looking on CL for Expedits and never see them.

CL has been off-the-charts in Seattle (and Vancouver/Portland, OR from what I've heard) for many years. Virtual garage sales, etc...People seem crazed to get rid of stuff when they get online, especially that crummy old Sansui amp, speakers and those scratchy records that have been sitting in the garage for 20 years since the turntable broke (does anybody listen to those anymore???)

Kristin has a friend over. She came down to where im sitting and said, "WOW you have a lot of CD's" followed by "you have discs?" Then made a gesture with her hands to show a big circle and said "those big round black things".... I replied with "records". That was the end of that conversation.

The city I live in was unfortunately the victim of two large sized floods in the past 10 years or so. Most everyone's basement goodies made their way to the dump.
