I do like those Marantz 7 copies on ebay. I have looked at them for years and they have a tape loop.

Was listening to a Pioneer SX-40 that finall lost most of the head controls but it makes noises thout the tape loop into another stereo and the main boards look okay so from what I see, invluding the lid isn't on right, somebody had it apart and did not hit the edge connections right reassembling it.

Hope so! It's a nice amp and I could use the SM, haven't seen one in the usually suspected places.
