Guess with this minor migration going on, it's time to say hi and add my welcome to everyone who's joined up recently - especially those of us from a parallel universe. Like Shaun, I've been around here but not particularly active for a few years. I've always checked in to savor the sarcasm. Anywhoo, I've been catching on to the mix tape scene a bit, having purchased a functioning Delco cassette deck that came with an old Chevy S10 ZR2 fishing truck; providing the excuse to add one of Nakdoc's Nakamichis to my small stable of decks so I could make some traveling tapes. One thing always seems to lead to another in this hobby...

Speaking of one thing leading to another, the fairly constant interest in DIY around here is beginning to get me interested in picking up the soldering iron again. Might have to try my hand at a headphone amp kit sometime this year. Hmmm... wonder if there's a White Oak upgrade for that?

Why are we migrating. I'm already a dual citizen and was wondering if I can keep that and travel back and forth instead of migrating. Just curious.

Well... the other place is sort of like California. Looks fantastic from the outside, but once you're there a while, you start to notice the... bad stuff.

It's a shame because it is a great resource, and I've met some great people (including you, Bob) and the activity level is significantly higher over there too.

I enjoy it here, but it feels sort of like "junk food".

A clear conscience is actually a bad memory.

Bob: Looking forward to future mix tape exchanges with you. You did a nice job using your Nakamichi 482Z to record your "Delta Blues" and "American II" for me.

Jim: I would have seen the analogy more akin to "comfort food" than "junk food."

There's nothing wrong with being members in multiple audio forums. We can all co-exist quite nicely. All forums take an amount of dedication by the membership to become involved by contributing, helping each other out, following the rules, and making it entertaining for all.

I don’t disagree Nando.

You and I both followed the rules, but one of us was treated unjustly. That is where I take issue. The rules are not being enforced in a consistent manner, which leads me to surmise there are things at work outside the scope of the rules.

I have been present occasionally but posting very little on the other side of the pond.

Welcome back Bob! you're in the company of some fellow dual citizens here. I came back recently so I could keep up with some estranged TH members, and am enjoying some good DIY threads as well. On the other side we have some know-it-all types who say "this amp/source can't sound good because it doesn't measure as well as this other one and I have all these graphs and test reports saying so".......aint nobody got time for that!

Sort of...

It is digging it's own grave if you ask me..

This is the only and final statement I will make about Jeff's (Pacific Stereo) website/platform:

Asking a donation for being a member of a website that is running on Windows 98 technology and dictate those donators strictly what to do not
isn't my kind of thing...

It was the main reason for me I didn't donate anything...

I've never seen a website which are managed by such unsportive and unprofessional characters as on TH lately...

Amen.

Well said.

I had planned to donate; however I received a castration by grapefruit spoon for quoting (text) from several replies, so that my post made some coherent sense...

Then he “apologized” fir that uncalled for overreaction when he realized I had contacted to make a donation... Then I noticed he never, NEVER mentioned his name. I registered under my name but you can’t even use you name in a private message to me? Not professional. Not even courteous.

This was before the bottom fell out, but it left a bad taste in my mouth, and I never made a donation.

It sucks because there are really good people there.

Nah. There's plenty of folks and plenty of activity there, inlcuding me. I'm just going to be far more occasional about it, is all. I don't know what the kerfluffel was about but Miles and Nando ended up back over here so here's where the conversations that we were having just picked up again. Jim and PC joining me just sort of kept the gang together from my perpsective, is all. I was just reintroducing myself over here as, like PC, I've not been as active here previsouly.

Yeah... lemme get my checkbook out...

Hi, Jim:

If you'd still like to after I yelled at you, we'd be delighted to accept your donation. Please use this link to donate.

This link lets you may make a one-time donation or an ongoing monthly donation. You can also do both, just use the link a second time.

Every donation is always appreciated. Also, a small recurring monthly amount is very much welcomed, as it really adds up over time and it's relatively painless to do a little bit each month.

Whatever you decide, thank you! It's members like you that keep the doors open around here.
