I need to dismantle my rack and fit her in with some supports. Won't be doing that tonight. My better half does 5 AM mornings so testing the beast proper won't happen tonight or I'll have serious hell to pay if you know what I mean. I'll be too tempted to go WO throttle if I hook her up. Plus I want to demo ES vs. WOPL with the same material in a semi-critical before & after listening test type deal. Having the face plate off was a treat though. Everything neat and tidy. And seeing all that fresh PCBA work, close up, is truly amazing.

I'll report back once I throw some serious jams through her.

But I do have a question;

So are you die hard experienced WOPL heads strongly recommending 8 ohm loads for these beasts? I think the longer term plan here would be to start building a silver-face component stack and I figure some vintage speakers might be the ticket to round that out...
 
Depends on the speaker Tony. An easy 4 like some D9's, no problem. You'll see. Don't take any of the problems I'm having with the Pig pertinent to yours. We are purposely hammering the Pig beyond normal levels to refine this design.

That 400 will let ya know when it's being pushed to hard, it'll start screaming in the output section...


4 ohms will require forced air cooling above moderate levels.

The left meter is a little flaky Tony, sorry I didn't have a swapper for it...
 
With the copper heatsinks that has a better chance of survival than 99% of em...and Tony, like any other amp I build for Phoenix members, If it breaks send it back I'll fix it----for nothing.
