The K-Horns are coming ! The K-Horns are coming !!!!

I am going to mod these La Scalas (with Kevin's help) and we will see how they compare. I'm going to do the "dog house" mod on them and make the cabinets 5 cubic feet vented. I think that gives about a 30 hz tuning frequency. According to Dave Harris they will give the KHorns a run....

If they don't...I'm going to get me some KHorn cabinets....

Thread to follow....as soon as Kevin is up and running..

A little tid bit...the Speakerlab bass bins and the Klipschorn bass bins are not the same size....

The Woofs made it...and I have an issue with my crosses. The swamping resistor shows infinity which is a LOT of resistance when it should read 10 ohms. The original was only a 10 watt. So Nav suggested 2-12 warr 20 ohmers in parallel....Voila"

That green resistor looks bit blackened. Did Jason try to smoke it? :smokin: It is green.

Im bound and determined to work green somewhere in my setup. One of these days you'll see the world first green spray painted 700b out there. I'll have white lights and green body.. :glasses1::toothy10:

Yep, she smoked, the same time I melted the solder...the resistance is above 6mugohms, no wonder they sounded like shit...

The original upgrade B & C DCM-50's....

THE K'S are BACK!!!!!!!
Sounding very, very good. Them resistors make a big difference. Have some adjusting to do on the autotransformer taps. The B & C's are not quite as efficient as the BMS and I have them attenuated a bit much the bass is way overpowering of the midrange,,,,,back in a jif....

:thumbleft::thumbleft:. dmt time lol

CJ , is this better???

It's better because the resistors are mounted further away from the board, but I would mount the resistors about half an inch (12.5mm) apart to improve air circulation, and further away from the yellow capacitor with green ends, and further away from the auto transformer. (I thought it was a steel core choke.)

I would also rotate the pair of resistors 90 degrees so that one resistor is above the other. This would make it easier to mount the hot resistors further away from nearby electronic components, which can melt or burn.

EDIT: I would move the yellow capacitor with green ends further away from the auto-transformer. There is sufficient lead length for this.

Yeah - CD is anal. That's what I love about him! Attention to detail. It's the little things that'll kick your arse.
