Seriously though Kev those K's are looking DAMN GOOD!!! I love the light color, they're gonna be gorgeous when ya get done....veneering is hard to do right and that ain't Sutton's first rodeo, ya can tell....good job guys..I'm impressed!!
 
Thanks pal ! Yea.. Sutton has done a bunch of that, and it shows. I still got alot to do on the tops.. Gotta sand all that black and shoot it all again. and,, I got to get some grills built ! Still not sure what to do there...
 
I really like that light color also. They are looking so good. You should be able to make grills now that your a expert woodworker.. What about using the little Velcro round sticky things? Then you could just stick a few on the cabs and a few on your grill and wallaa!!
 
I still think use little magnets recessed intp the frame of the grill and inside the edges of the horn motorboard. It works really well, and you can't see them after putting some putty over themagnets and sanding...
 
Getting the grills to stay is the least of my worries... LOL... I've just not decided what to make them out of yet ???

I would just make your rectangle out of 4 pieces of plywood and wood glue the 45• corners. Then wrap it with grill cloth. Sound easy enough to me. But this could be my redneck building skills also lmfao. This is how I would do it..... Proceed with caution:pale:
 
Maybe a little more refined, but this is a possibility...

O no.. You got it... But have you seen how many different kinds of grill materal they make... The different patters... colors.... and such ???? Don't know if I want black.. Or some type of a light brown pattern ???? or... That thick black foam stuff...

well, narrow it down to fabric or foam.

I would choose cloth, but it is up to you....and you can change the grill cloth anytime, and as many times as you want.

I personally don't think you will have the grills on them much, anyway. I think you will want to see the horns...and not block the sound.....but that is just me...and the speakers are yours, you dog.....
 
Ok Kev, you need to print out this chart...it's the tap settings possible on the mid horn autotransformer. It's just a fancy attenuator to get the right level of the mid horn based on the mid driver used. Since all mid drivers seem to have a different spl rating this allows you to tunbe the driver level to the rest of the system.
The chart is labeled in -(MINUS) decibels. As the mids always need to be attenuated in relation to the rest. The left figure in the chart coincides with the left terminal of the mid horn connections (the + terminal).... a good starting point is the -5DB hook up then go down from there. I was running the 4592's with the + retmonal with the 0 wire and the minus with the X wire... Which amounted to -15db and I still think that wasn't enough, but like Al says, if it sounds right IT IS right....

Not tooooo complicated...

How many sheets of Plywood did this take? And I notice that most people put veneer on. Is Veneer necessary?
I'm asking because veneer looks like an added expense which if you use a higher grade plywood that veneer could be eliminated. Are there too many screws that hold the panels together that Veneering would be the only way to eliminate those ugly screws? Could biscuit joinery be used on assembly versus screws?
I am assuming the bass bin is of a vented design, so there is not a lot of pressure inside the cab.
 
The bass bin IS NOT vented and MUST BE airtight....I have plain old plywood---unfinished--- cabs....
