SP 12 SE

Joe, that bundle of 270-CT-270 was run under the board originally. I put those in a shielded shrink tube and ran them on top[. I have not put a solid shield up, but that is also something that Johhny D also suggested.

That album was lucky to have survived it's trevails. It was finally brought home by Kaleb after telling his Mom that wasn't right.

Sounds like a record that's been Robbed, Raped, pillaged and plundered.

Did you clean the dried beer and bong residue off of it before you played it Lee?

OF COURSE NOT ----that would be messin with history and tradition, and we all know ya don't mess with tradition!!!

Liner notes-----

OK , run through the CD in's this thing sounds awesome, yep, the phono IN to the CD in.Not much gain, but quiet.

Hey Lee, Back in the treads I had mentioned to use the shielded cables on the phono stage even to the selector, the phono stage is very high gain so anything buzzing around it is going to be picked up and amplified. I'd also put a coupling cap from the phonos board common ground and connect to chassis...If you send it to me I would replace all the inputs and every other wire dealing with volume, selector and board inputs to shielded....espsecially for tubes because of the power supply. I would also add another filter section too. Those 12au7's are awesome sounding tubes but those 6dj8's / 6922 definitly leave something to be desired...I like large octals in the phono like the 6sl7 or the 6sn7. The RIAA stage could be lacking too. Try replacing the 47K from phono input to ground..go to about 70K and broaden the frequency response in the upper range.. trust me try it.

Have you checked out the radiotrons designers handbook I posted twice...its got explinations and suggestions for phono sections...it deals all with tubes and math formula's, also has speaker section that explains horn's...maybe that will get you to check it out...but I must warn you this book may have you praying to the tube GOD....LOL

For deliverance maybe!! Yes Johnny you have posted a bunch in this thread trying to help and I appreciate the dogfuck out of it, and if I seem to blow off your suggestions, that's really not what I'm doing. I've been trying to follow the designers suggestions and stay true to that, but that may have been a mistake thinking other people handle their shit as well as Joe does, so I'll say again--THANK YOU VERY MUCH- and I'm about to throw the designers suggestions out the window!!

I had the Cary's before Larrt did, I'm not a tube guy.

Lee the were biased almost twice what they were suppose to be. So yes they made noise. They no longer make noise they just make sweet music. LOL And yes they can be biased now. LOL

Larry

PS the other LED burned out now. 2 months after i get them back. No I haven't emailed them. I will change the bulb myself.

Weird ain't it, my first shot at primo tube gear and the only set of mono's that left the Cary factory all F&^%$# up.

Lee, I'm sorry if my suggestions seem forward or with disrespect...was'nt in any way...was just trying to help

I know John, I was trying to let you know I appreciated every tip, and tried to exp[lain why it did not look like i was heeding them Bud!!

Lee would you get upset if I asked you to change out the diodes with ones I can get. If you give me the values. I will go on a mission from God. LOL May look for some Slotkys how ever you spell it.

Larry
