SP 12 SE

The frequency response of everything but the Phono inputs.

Still reading up on testing the phono section, something about the RIAA equaliztion messing with a standard THD & N measurement.

OK, for the first time in 25 years I am listening to vinyl.

Hey Lee
That turntable is not quite level and the VTA is off a few degrees. What is that penny taped to the headshell?

Now Joe!!! Quit F'n with me!! It's very level and no pennies for tracking weights. THE VTA OFF A FEW DEGREES?????????????? And just what should it's heading be???

Lovin that Pousette Dart Band...

Well, don't keep us in suspense. How's it sound?

For those interested, this is my one remaining vinyl from a rather substantial collection that my ex-wife stole. One of my favorites------ The Pousette-Dart Band--- #3.

Joe, I'd better burn some PDB for ya , it's very good stuff. I think you'd dig it.

Sounds like a record that's been Robbed, Raped, pillaged and plundered.

Pretty sweet actually, STILL HAVE some hum, but at least you can l;isten to a record now. Hum is not noticeable until no music is present. Have some work to do. But I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Album Art!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

60 hz hum? I noticed that most of the interconnects inside the pre are twisted and unshielded.

Did you clean the dried beer and bong residue off of it before you played it Lee?

I am used to at least the phono ones being shielded. Did the kit call for the twisted pair with no shield?

It looks like AC from the toroid goes over the main board and attaches to the rectifier section in close proximity to the phono board. Have you tried placing a ferrous or copper plate in between the main board and the phono board to shunt the stray flux from that wire bundle to see if that is where it is being introduced?

I am looking at this picture a couple of posts up for that reference 108_0494.JPG

From the OUT of the phono board to the selector , yes, from the RCA IN's to the board , no.
