Trumpets can moan too...and gurgle, squeal, sputter and just plain bawl.Trumpets blare, saxophones moan - but only if you purse your lips just right.

Spend an half an hour in NavLinear's Avatar thread.
Douglas: Yes, it's good. There's a moaning saxophone on Side B that caught my attention when I hit the auto-reverse button 1/3 of the way through Side A. You did a nice job recording from vinyl to digital Master and back to analog. I just ordered a Behringer UFO-202 to begin transferring my vinyl to digital files. That will be a first for me. I like the Ampex 632 tape. Which bias and eq settings did you use on your 707 when recording onto the Ampex 632? Was it Std for bias and LH for eq? I hope to hear your tape in its entirety this weekend.

........Most open-reel tape can handle more recording input without saturation, but keeping it in the safe zone is fine.
I got the urge to get the Behringer UFO202 from Larry (speakerman1). A few members, here, are using these inexpensive audio interfaces. It should arrive this coming week. There's an abundance of free software downloads available with the UFO202, including Audacity.

Glad to hear you like the machine, Dennis! I will be posting a few more decks here over the next week or so. Trying to sell some of my heavier gear locally so I don't have to worry about them getting trashed in the mail.
Are we gonna see some pics of the new toy in your system?
Nice pic, Dennis. Those MD decks sure are nice. Love the keyboard input on those for track labeling. Is this your first MD deck, or is this your return to MD?
First MD deck eh?.... Ill cook up a couple mix MD's for ya. PM me your address.
Nice screwdrivers, Wiha's??
Dennis: Great pictures of your recent acquisitions. You got a great deal on the works. I was contemplating the Sony MD deck you bought because Douglas was offering it at such a great price, but it's much better knowing you now own it. There are a few of us who love recording onto MD. Once you get the hang of it, you will be amazed at what you can do with MD.

So are the Wiha's, I hae both, good stuff....
I'm excited to finally have something like this - I may need to pick your guys brains to come up to speed and find out what techniques you use. I couldn't pass up the deal as Douglas offered it up at a great price. I really like the flexability it provides for recording - nothing like a professional studio but for home use this will be fantastic.
