Douglas: Yes, it's good. There's a moaning saxophone on Side B that caught my attention when I hit the auto-reverse button 1/3 of the way through Side A. You did a nice job recording from vinyl to digital Master and back to analog. I just ordered a Behringer UFO-202 to begin transferring my vinyl to digital files. That will be a first for me. I like the Ampex 632 tape. Which bias and eq settings did you use on your 707 when recording onto the Ampex 632? Was it Std for bias and LH for eq? I hope to hear your tape in its entirety this weekend.

Recorded in STD Bias/ STD Recording mode for you, Nando and LH1 Bias/ STD EQ for Dave's tape which was recorded on my Pioneer RT 1020L. Need to remember to include that info. Stayed pretty tame with the recording levels on both decks which I tried to keep around the -1 dB mark.

I think that you are going to like the Behringer adapter. Do you know what software you are going to use for your needle drops?

OK, that's good to know about the recording settings with Ampex 632. Most open-reel tape can handle more recording input without saturation, but keeping it in the safe zone is fine.

I got the urge to get the Behringer UFO202 from Larry (speakerman1). A few members, here, are using these inexpensive audio interfaces. It should arrive this coming week. There's an abundance of free software downloads available with the UFO202, including Audacity.

Very true about the OR tape. I could break the needles off the VU meters on my decks with the ATR Master tape that I have. I am using the Audactiy software myself and the more I use it , the more I like it.

Douglas: I should begin a thread to ask what other members are doing for analog (vinyl) to digital transfers then back again to analog. Derek was the first to get me started in that respect with lots of recommendations.

Here are a couple of photos of the JVC from Webby, the Sony MD from you, the cans from Mark L. and the two tapes I've received from you. This is almost too much to handle all at once. Your recordings are extremely well done and I've had the chance to listen to music I haven't heard - many thanks for that. The recorded MDs you sent have been very interesting to listen to - the Thin Lizzy is a keeper for me and the Jazz has perked my interest for this music genre that I've not listened to much in recent times. Great stuff - thanks again.

Hey Ben - this is my first MD deck and the keyboard is a real plus. The sound quality is quite good and Douglas included five disks that he recorded - good stuff. Some Jazz, Rap and a Thin Lizzy album that brought back memories from years ago.

I was contemplating the Sony MD deck you bought because Douglas was offering it at such a great price, but it's much better knowing you now own it. There are a few of us who love recording onto MD. Once you get the hang of it, you will be amazed at what you can do with MD.

I really like the flexability it provides for recording - nothing like a professional studio but for home use this will be fantastic.
