Record Stores... Whats your latest buy?

It's a great album period. Maybe yours is a Canadian pressing? What does it say on the label and what's the matrix info (when you get a chance)

Cat # is SRM-1-1090. Matrix is the same. SNB or something of that nature appears to be handwritten in the run out as well.

Most Canadian pressings are easily identifiable by the spine(generally) if not it will say on the back of the jacket who it was distributed by/for in canada. None of that on this one.

Does it say made in USA on the record label? That will tell you right off the bat country of manufacture. I agree the spine or backcover usually tip off Canadian pressings, sometimes you will see a maple leaf somewhere also

This is the link to the Canadian version. Only way to tell if it says Polydor LTD

US 1st pressing (and variant) matrix identifiers, all US version 1st pressings were mastered by Gilbert Kong (GK) at MASTERDISK

Matrix / Runout (A): SRM-1-1090-A-CP3 MASTERDISK G.K.
Matrix / Runout (B): SRM-1-1090-B-CP3 MASTERDISK G.K.
Matrix / Runout (A) (Columbia, Santa Maria pressing variation): SRM-1-1090 A-CS5 MASTERDISK G.K.
Matrix / Runout (B) (Columbia, Santa Maria pressing variation): SRM-1-1090 B-CS5 MASTERDISK G.K

Thats interesting. I never really thought of it that way. Makes sense though. I have a Canadian Bowie album that at one time seemed to fetch a fair amount of coin too.

Just a Little Gift

...from Dave Mason himself. His brand new album "Future's Past". After one listen I can say it is well worth seeking out. I've got the vinyl but it's available on CD. Half and half reworked versions of old stuff from the 70's (solo work and Traffic songs) and new songs, which hold up just as well as any of his '70s music.

There's also my MCA Heavy Vinyl version of his classic "Alone Together" which he was kind enough to autograph for me right before blowing the doors off the concert hall with an exceptional performance last Wednesday night.

The concert graphics are priceless: "Dave Mason's Traffic Jam World Tour: 1967 -2015".

There are a few days that make up for the current level of BS at the ol' learnin' factory.

Bob: Thanks for the alert on the Dave Mason album. I have some of his early work, but I didn't know he had been working on recording a new one. It's nice to hear you had a great time at his concert last week.

Nando.

Very cool!!! Is the lp you had him sign the marble vinyl?? Only you know and I know is a great song and he does a awesome version. A lot of Leon Russell and joe cocker and Delaney and Bonnie's band mates on there. That was a great time in music. Before ego's got in the way..

This one is a remastered 180 gram lp that MCA released a year or two ago. Black vinyl. The cover is the later (I think) version with Dave in a tophat standing in front of some rock outcropping out west.

Edit: Now that you mention it, I did see one of the marble lps at the show - one of our guests brought one for him to sign.

Well, so much for that promise to myself not to buy more records until after the holidays. Just had to stop in and then couldn't resist these:

New-Records_zpseb3bf121.jpg

Brian Eno: Another Green World
Blue Diamonds: Ramona
Lone Ranger: Barnabas in Collinswood
Harold Budd/Brian Eno with Daniel Lanois: Pearl

Friday, I picked up Foo Fighters Sonic Highways, and Sabbath Technical Extasy.

Also my parcel from Ron arrived on Friday. Had some good listening going on that night.

Grabbed the Deluxe edition of the new Slipknot album. Wanted to get it on vinyl initially but I am always a sucker for extra tracks. So, CD it is.

Was in HMV and picked this one up,

Ozzy, Memoirs Of A Madman, double picture disc vinyl limited to 5k copies.

And this finally came in from Bluestreak. Ordered it some time ago. Actually, also ordered the blue SH-4, but apparently those cant be purchased through his supplier...something to do with the DJ division of Ortofon. Thought that was kind of odd.

Very nice scores, Ben. Love the SH4 so much that I pretty much finger cue all of my albums since I acquired one. The fingerlift is looooooooong- perfect for my clumsy mitts.

Im actually really liking the SH-4 for the reason you mentioned Doug. As I mentioned I couldnt get a blue version through Tim, so i ordered the blue one yesterday off amazon. It has shipped and will likely be here this week. I think it will look nice with the 2M blue mounted up on it.
