Somebody has to be the first, just as well be Przems...as he needs a chassis......I could probably make this one work, but I'm worried about the long term reliability with a compromised board....and one must consider a board compromised if you take any material off of it. Granted, I didn't take off much and should have taken off more, but those 100 volt DC pads are close enough to the edge as it is and then have that distance lees AND then the board touching the chassis doesn't seem like a long term, trouble free option...yeah, maybe an untreated chassis will corrode in 20 years, but by then Przem or I won't really care...we'll be rockin with God and his million watt WOPL....

Well....... My misunderstanding there Lee. I was thinking carbon steel.
That is one hell of a nice chassis Joe. No worries there period.

Lee, I'm totally for the idea of the new chassis. And higher reliability of backplate boards. Not that easy to send a gear from Poland to your place... Exciting moment for the WOPL conversion project, but no doubt also much more work for you. I do appreciate your offer!
 
Sounds like a job for powdercoating if some color is wanted. Else, engine turn it and clear lacquer to keep it shiny. Personally I think an engine turned chassis would look real cool, maybe even with a tinted clear over top of it.
 
Once Joe settled me down, a minute fix, I had the base/emitter wires reversed from the backplanes to the driver board....the pulled standoff hooks to the B+ plane only, so no damage there. Przem I'm gonna beat on this thing hard for a week and run it out the door.
 
IT LIVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And the pic Joe mentioned. The standoff moved about a 1/32nd.

Przem if you are still nervous about the backplanes....remember they're guaranteed for life...and in this case I'll pay shipping to and from if it goes tits up, cause after the week it's gonna live through here it'll be fine if it lives....

Ok, I nFINALLY got what I wanted when routing the wires....the AC going to the meters are in a separate bundle..where they cross the low signal shielded near the meters they are at right angles. The shielded also routes in space away from everything....this one is QUIET!! We'll put it on the AP tomorrow...it sounds incredible though ...shold test very well..
