You can- they have a return privilege.

But if your preamp is running single ended, it’ll never do it. Even balanced has to be pro high voltage and not home audio low voltage. You can’t get the noise floor all the way down if the rest of the system isn’t up to it.
Yup…I learned that lesson. The Tascam L40 MK 2 was instrumental at converting the unbalanced to balanced and back to unbalanced…AND provided the much needed level trim that allowed me to integrate the PX2 crossover into my system.

Those Benchmark amps are the only thing (currently) I would consider as replacements for my Counterpoint amps.

And even n my case, I believe the balanced out from my (Perreaux) preamp is not at the high-voltage of a pro balanced signal. But I run the amps right bext to the speakers and have long-ish runs from the preamp to the amps, so no matter what I'll run balanced there.
