I have a buddy who has some of the rare spec equipment. They are half height spec pieces from the Japanese market.

I heard of some of that "Japan" only market. I'd like to see some.

I'll have to take a picture of my buddies sometime. I think he only has the power amp and missed out on the preamp when he was bidding on ebay.

Yeah it is a shame to part out that type of collection. I bought a set of rack handles from him when he was downsizing. Of course he got top dollar for everything. I paid $125 for a set of bolt on rack handles for my CT-F1000 cassette deck.


I also have a Pioneer SA-9800 and a TX-9800. I'll have to post a pic sometime. All my gear could probably stand to be freshened up. It works but is probably original.

I did a recap of 2 of my Spec 1's and I was amazed. Echowars had prepared a list of all caps and a power supply upgrade. He even singled out the signal path caps bless his heart. Still got one to go. I should do a thread on that one eh?

I gave away a set of rack handles for a Spec 1 Iwas parting out, the guy was looking for a long time and couldn't afford them when they did show up. College kid with no money. Made his day.

It's interesting and VERY TEDIOUS. Boards hangin in the air everywhere, tiewraps from each board back to the chassis so they don't break the solid wires........................................Tedious.

Hi We should rename this thread Pioneer and paste it. Don't ask cause I don't know. LOL When the bots search if they see Pioneer in the title they hit it and it will come up on the search engines.

Love all the Pioneer Spec gear pictures I can find. I'm nowhere close to having the amount of Spec components owned by Lee and John, but the stuff I do have does regular duty.
