Good call Nando.

Stocks of this metal still appear to be healthy.

The latest XR versions turned out to be more reliable than the older ones:

I had some real problems with this version, so I decided to stop using them.
 
These two tapes are still the winning combination with both of my Sony decks:

When i want to see or to compare mostly i use one of your tapes which are a very good as a reference, obviously they did a great job at the factory! Not to mention Nando's Esoteric which really rocks in this regard as well.

Your decks works like a Swiss clock guys. :thumbup:

I believe you are correct Miles. Although im not certain which year TDK it is.
 
Based on the shell design of the Akai metal I posted earlier, I guess it to be a BASF or Phillips of some kind. The shell looks very similar to that cassette you've posted.
 
Ah thanks Miles, i do love this LH specific design, it looks so robust... :-P

BTW, your Einstein looks good too but like needing a haircut... :toothy10:
