No longer allowed by RoHS though. Has been phased out for most commercial applications, still prevalent in MIL spec gear however. Has good corrosion resistance.

They used to plate screws with cadmium until it got banned due to toxicity.

Rarely do we have one of those relays wear out. It's usually the braid that rots due to H2S..

Joe: On my last trip into innovative Audio there was a PS Audio 200C Signature Series for sale. http://www.iavscanada.com/product/ps-audio-200c-signature-amplifier/ As I was talking to Gordon, I mentioned I had the companion preamplifier, the PS Audio IV with HCPS (High Current Power Supply), and Gordon says, " You have got to talk this man over here." I can't recall the fellow's name, but I did introduce myself and we had a good conversation. He is a regular customer from Washington State. He knew his PS audio stuff and I hadn't a clue about the company or its products.

A dc coupled amp can have decoupling caps on the inputs, there was an option on the inputs with the Normal/Direct switch. In normal there was a DC stripping cap inline, in direct, no. Not to be confused with the amplifier stages being ditect coupled...
A true DC coupled amp will amplify a DC signal with the same gain as one with AC content. An example of a true DC coupled amp is the DC300, DC300A and DC300 Series II. If you put 1V DC into the input jack, you will get approx. 40V DC on the output, if you put -1V in you will get approx. -40V out.

The PL400 and 700 (in direct mode), due to C6 will roll the gain off at DC to unity gain so if you put in 1V you will get 1V out. The earliest PL700 with the PL0171 board in it would amplify DC similar to the DC300 amp. That must have gotten PL into some difficulties as they quickly designed that out.

Quick ? If anybody's around. I don't want to screw up. I forgot lol. But on this pioneer 939 when I put my jumpers back in the preamp out. How do they go? From the pre out to power in. Or in both the pre out slots and both the power in spots???

Nando, PS Audio was my first taste of "high end" gear. In the mid 90's they had a really fantastic line. All of the products were really fantastic. The Snell A reference system I listened to were two tall arrays with outboard passive crossovers & a pair of passive 18" woofers driven by four PS Audio Delta250 monoblocks. You never forget your first love I guess.
