No, I took your advice and buried the needles playing some Annihalator. She looked at my like WTF are you doing and I just kept going higher LOL

I think it's time to put the Watkin's woofers into service in the SM cabs tomorrow. Lee how would you suggest wiring the dual coils since I don't have a dual coil crossover? So I am going through both coils at 8ohms. The twin coils are 2ohm and 4 ohm I believe. How would I jump the terminals and which coil would I go through first?

Thanks Lee. You can set whatever benchmark you want as a time for an Amp Giveaway. A WOPL 1000 is probably deserving of the 500 mark in my opinion.

Ron, that advice needs to come from a speaker guy. Sutton is pretty familiar with the watkins woofers. He has had some Lambda's that were about the same.

Lived through that just fine eh?? You can't hurt your speaks, got Don's board right?? Bout the most you'll do is take out a few outputs.. Usually the rail fuse goes. You CAN HURT em, but I haven't managed to do that on the speaks, it's always been on the bench...

Yep, lived through it fine but the left speaker tweeter protection circuit started to trip so I backed it down. The teenagers came in here and were like WOW, Jake had a big ole grin on his face and his friend was speechless. Makala even had a smile on her face. Probably the closest thing they have had to a concert level situation. My living room is 16 x 24 but filled the entire house

I just checked in on Debbie and she looked at me and asked "if I was done". I told I had some more "testing" to do and she just rolled her eyes LMAO. Really putting the gas to some ZZ Top right now

Joe has said "Nobody tests amps like you do Lee". But there's a reason, are we braggin aboout continous levels or NOT?? I'm not naive enough to think I'm the only one to max out a 700 occasionally, so they don't leave until they prove they'll live. Cost me a lot of time and money, but the only one I've got back was Gibsonians and that was for a failure of backplane parts I should have replaced but hadn't had to up until then. Never cost him a dime either....

Well, shipping to me was what it cost him....

LOL.. yer getting 8 amper's for rail fuses on this new one too, Ron.... :evil4: Lee and I were debatin - I was thinking that with the backplanes and everything soldered down tight (no sockets with these guys!), maybe you didn't need a DCP. Then we remembered who this WOPL 500 is going to.... :smokin::glasses8:

Bwahahahahhahahahaaaaa! I will be careful Jer! I am hoping to get the Watkins' squared away tomorrow as one of my projects. I started a thread in the speaker section for some advice on that. They are amp killers supposedly but I think these WOPL's will easily be up to the task

That's why I want to jump the terminals so they run like a normal woofer. I won't even attempt a 4 ohm load without better cooling. That's also why I asked you about those cooling fan sets ups you make, I would like two of them if possible since both of these are 4 finners

Time is my biggest enemy there. They are extremely easy to build. I've had a partial thread on em. When I get back from Phoenix I'll thread building one...

My main speakers are Mission M74. They have been hooked up to two different WOPL 700B's and survived.
Now I didn't bury the needles like in Lee's picture, but they lasted awhile before the speaker fuse went away.

I went and looked those up - if they sound as good as they look, they should sound very good indeed.

The only time I ever "buried" a meter needle was by accident, and the speakers were always a bit raspy after that.
