phase linear 400

I fought the switchover from Rosin to No-Clean for a LONG time. Now I only use the Rosin flux for untinned components/wires and some of the crusty shit in PL's
Sniffer
I would think you would not need much Flux w a new board if any?
so w the No clean solder and a little bit of the Kester 951 would be the perfect match?
I think that paste flux and like you said would create mess and would defeat the whole Clean solder joint.
Thanks

Thanks, I done a lot of soldering, But its good to no what works on this board, must be a solid board to use 800 degrees , I don't know if my can go up that High . The back plane I can use one of my old soldering irons, I have to many of them but tips that another story . I really like my Soldering Iron tip cleaner w this I never use a damp sponge.
I use the Hakko made version, kinda round gold ball full brass turnings, works excellent.1652135645586.png

I remember years ago (25 years I think) I did some soldering w a new company and this blow me away, this help my soldering and clean up the tip back to a tin one , I got the part number and order a bunch for home use and had one in my tool box at work (they last a lot longer than you would think) I like the open ones better they seem to allow a longer stroke and more room to get in their but their a must w any solder station I could not live w/o one and I also solder w this,,,,, another device I can not live w/o , Yes I use this when I'm Soldering ! :D:eek: Headband Magnifier Glass w 2 double sided lens in them (one will flip up and you can use one) , I don't like the ones w the lights they add to much weight and they don't seem to last very long before the led wires break.

The flux has nothing to do with how old the board is nor how "Clean" the solder joint is. It's used to float the impurities and make the joint flow (wetting). Even though the rosin flux is messy, it helps the solder process.

HUH?

I want a set! Those are my next speaker purchase. I'm probably going to purchase from Bob assembled... My woodworking is worse than my soldering :-/

I hope you go to Arkansas to pick them up. They are a VERY big and heavy speaker and will cost a fortune to ship them. It would be probably 2 pallets, one for each speaker.

I shipped 14 Phase Linear 700's from California... It can't be more than that. I'm thinking $350-400 gets it done.
It's going to have to wait though. I'm about done with this basement and I just ordered a 55" QLED and media console. Going to be moving Valerie and her friends down there over the next few weeks. Need to carve out space for the CS beasts before I can justify ordering them.

I shipped 2 K-Horns from Tennessee to Gillette ,Wyo. One pallet, 1,146.00....Don't use Fed-Ex Freight..

Don’t use XPO. Ever.

Pratt was using them for shipping outer ducts to us for upgrade and they destroyed about half the crates they shipped, and damaged one part.

I had to rebuild the crates each time we shipped them back because they were in pieces…

good morning group....hope all is good in your world...
guess while waiting on parts....
i will recap the 200 today....
i noticed the same cracklin on the left channel that i had on the 400....
wonder if this is about to blow also...
the crackling and static ends in a few seconds with a big pop....and then silence....
the machine plays normally ....
only on startup....just like the 400...
life is great....
lol

Gene, If you've got the time and inclination, think about doing a PL200 recapping thread. Lots of owners of these amps out there.
