well, bought new battery charger...name brand ... used it b twice....today a puff of smoke....burnt cap plainly visible...
can anyone tell me what it is so i can replace it...photo included...it upened up like a taco

It is a varistor Gene, not really a cap. It is usually used for line surge suppression. Appears you had a surge.

i removed it ... will it operate without one....
i do have some movs...what value will work ..
