phase linear 400

mr. laatsch called it exactly, emitter resistors and low ohm resistors, in a previous post...but was surprised at the dcp chip blowing its lid too....the fuses were purchased from mr. joe a while back...
nothing in control board was damaged...nor right channel...and both b+ and b- fuses blew originally...upon replacement b+ did not blow a second time...b- did...have not played repaired unit long as i have no speaker protect board and only one spare junk speaker left...to test with...this has been running daily for a couple of years...was 1st wopl and first dcp board as well...used daily....and played loud...at times...

mr. don...i see you worked at dresser industries in early 80s...there is/was a dresser industries around alexandria, louisiana. .
This division was in Columbus, Ohio. They made underground coal mining machines. I worked in engineering and occasionally went out in the field. The last mine I went to, the face was 5 miles underground.

Coal mines leave pillars of coal 10 feet square to help hold the roof up. You can only go so far underground and then retreat. Since miners get paid by the ton, they rob the pillars on the way out and then run like hell when the roof starts to come down. That's when I got out.

i bet its really dark and silent that far down....

I was in a salt mine in Germany (the one they hid all the art in) and they have concerts down there... absolutely massive main room- probably 4-5 stories high area of a few football fields.

The actual "vault" has a WW-II display set up in there that's pretty cool.

I read a book last winter when housesitting a friend's place called Salt - A World History by mark Kurlansky.

I had minimal expectations from what I presumed would be a dull subject. But it was the most facinating read I've had in a good long while. That salt mine in Germany was discussed in detail as were others equally profound. Salt mining and extractions sites all over the globe were described and practises that went back centuries.

It really made an impression.

well, well...finally this morning got the reacement dcp parts...the constant rain had shut down a lot of services...got a bit of medical issues to resolve this weekend...then i can put the wopl back together...
i think its just fine!!!
then to examine the stock unit....didnt want mpre than one project open on the bench!!!
got almost all bugs out of the rav4 restoration..
last fix was difficult...pinned it down to #1 injector...intermediate...while cleaning and setting injectors......last mechanic damaged the connector....replaced it...still had problem...eventually discovered the old connector internal wiring had been twisted and shorted inside the connector....burn marks clearly visible...ended up also was an internal open in the connector pins inside the injector...new calibrated injector and connector solved that problem...but took me a while to figure out all 3 problems!!! i am old...lol
all thats left is to change wheel speed sensor on the abs....the little car runs great!!!
interesting project!!!
good morning phoenix!!!
kinda wet here!!!

Gene, How is your Solar/Battery Setup going? Got any stats?
yes sir...spreadsheets full..
lol...in 2019 i put in step one solar panels...hired it done, paid attention, finished it myself...now have 14 325 poly canadian solar panels...enphase i6+ and i7+ micro inverters...and added solar water (homemade) at same time...grid tie...the utility company will not buy my excess production..i am self consuming only...
added envoy for monotoring and export limiting..
in the dry season..
i can supply half my own needs. kwhour is is over 30 cents....green energy is NOT CHEAP...conservation is key here...run appliances wheb sun shines...solar hot water. .etc
this year has been a freak....no blue skies since first of may....yet almost 170 inches of rain...nov y dec left in wet season....the dry season i consume produce 300 to 350 kwh witb panelss....this wet seasob between 200 to 225 kwh...
i figure to recoop my 8k investment in 8 years...according to my logs...net metering would cut that in half....but, i have noi heat nor a/c...
i have a solar remote gate i made from a trailer jack. ...works great 100+ meter range....i have a solar powered water well at the other house...it fills two 2500 liter tanks from the well....i built a solar powered internet relay station...for our service ...from a source 40km away....it relays to my hime and i rent tower space to the isp for others who use this service. .school is free...my bedroom is battery/inverter powered....to keep internet, tv computer, voip etc running with our frequent power outages...nice, fun, useful projects...i built a ram pump to pump water from our little river to tilapia/cow pond....with an old panel powering the fountain to aeriate....
fun, fun, fun!!!
