phase linear 400 voltages change

I just take a photo inside and out side of PL400 . I think this amplifier had been change a transformers because My current PL400 MAX 750 watts but this new one is 1500 watts

The decal vendor for Phase Linear in those days smoked a little dope. That rating means nothing. It is exactly the same transformer. And the transistor covers are for an 8 fin amp. That amp did not come with 8 fins either. There isn't a lower hole to mount the other heatsink. Also, the middle fins had a small spotweld of some kind....they are hard to separate from the base heatsink even after the mounting bolts are out.

That is not a dual voltage transformer.....

Lee , one more thing i forgot to asking you about White oak PCB uprade . My brother got 2 PL700B and he would like to uprade White Oak PCB PL20A . I do not know about backlate list item on white oak is using for what ?? can you give me a good advice if my brother want to upgrade his pcb . which item he is need to buy from white oak list. thank you

The White Oak PL-14-20 replacement PCB replaces the PL400C, PL0171, Pl14, 14B, Pl020 , and PL36 boards.

My recommendation for a 700B conversion is:
New Pl14-20 Rev "E" driver board
New PL700B Rev "B" Backplane boards
New Pl700B LED light board
New Power supply caps
New-Don Imlay 700B DC protect board

Mr. White Oak is Joseph King. He posts here as member "Gepetto". You can contact him via PM. His website is not updated to all the goodies...

Lee , what is a backplane board use for ? I thought just replace a new PCB borad only . LOOK LIKE NEED TO SPEND A FEW HUNDRED BUCK FOR IT .... (^.*)

PM me your email and I will send you details on why.

SOS , I NEED YOU GUY HELP ME.....

I just done a silly thing and i need you guy help me to fix this issue. I was playing a music and then i was turn a power off and try to measure R38 and R39 . When i measure it , a spark is come up and i think a emitter is gone .i take a photo as well . do you guy think i need to replace a 10 ohm 1/2 watts ??? I try to plug a speaker and play music then a sound is very noise and hum. I had learn a good lesson today is need to wait for few minutes before doing something on this monster power amp.

That TO3 stuff needs to all go, the backplanes replace them

Your leads are not measuring R38, or R39. You are measuring a diode. Chang, if you do not know the difference between a diode and a resistor, you need to learn on something other than a Phase Linear 400. If you have shorted something on the backwall transistors the least you have done is popped a fuse, and at the worst you've shorted a couple outputs and possibly some components on the driver board.
Resistors have color codes on them, not a diode symbol. R38, R39 are the Brown, black, black, silver (10ohm, 1/2 watt) that goes from where your black lead is to the base bus bar....

Yikes!!!

Thank you lee , i check it and fuse been blow. I use this amp for practice because i dont have any other than this amp to play with. Now i learn a new lesson and good to learn from a mistake . Hahhaha

We learn more from mistakes than we do from successes.

Yeah , lee . I bought a pre amplifier 2000 but i cant find a fuse 3AG 1/16 Amp around australia. Do you know anyone sell it ? I'm definitely need one to use on 220v because it's a primary dual voltage.
