New build for shop system

Uh oh... I let my shop become plugged with another project... it’s a younger fella with a square body ton GM pick up... got a soft spot for those... he’s putting box crossmembers in. He was gonna put a flatbed on it, I said “no way, come over and fix your box”.

Second pic is my long overdue square body project, 6V53 DD. Gotta finish this over the summer...

Oh, it was “island garbage day” today also. Found the hidden spray bomb in there. Napalmed my woods, had to dig out the hose...

Did that once back in the day [60's] burning trash in 55 gallon drums, a can of mom's hairspray got left in and a fireball came roaring straight up about ten feet, big noise.

Couple pieces of sheet metal through my friends shear and break, dirty ol’ flux core welder and a few tremclad spray bombs later... nice to see an original box on the old truck, lots of locals have a boner for “flat bottoms” as they call them here... junk fabricated flat beds. Don’t see many survivors here.

The lads finished her up this afternoon. Quick dirty shot of rock gaurd! Gonna bring the cabinets over to my shop this evening and monkey with port tuning.

Got the cabinets home. Installed wiring and speakers in one. Did a frequency sweep with a shunt resistor and she came in at 34hz with 8” ports. Lengthened the ports to 12” and she only dropped to 31-32hz. Was shooting for 26-28hz... I would have to cut away a bit of a gusset board to go longer with the port.

Sounds good, One cabinet really not enough for the shop, that’s why there’s three more!

I eould think that is good enough for you to be unable to hear yourself shout What The F--- anymore, wouldn't you? :thin::tshirt::headbang:

Been pounding a few tunes here, so far I’m impressed with these drivers. After the frequency sweep I had this one cabinet hooked to the Mx3000 by itself so 3200 watts bridged @ 4 ohm and they didn’t object at all. Even with 1600w per driver. I didn’t push things real hard for long but did blink the clip lights once or twice. Nice deep lows on the kick drum. I then wired in the lo-max in series which gave me 2400w/4 drivers for 600w per. This is the configuration these speakers will see when all is complete. Two Mx3000’s bridged with 8 ohm load for 600w x8 drivers. They bump pretty good at 600w each and I would expect them to live at that no problem. I can feel a little heat on the dust cap after a few hours of playing, but not that much above ambient. I think these four cabinets will fill this fairly large space with some pretty thick bass.

Edit. These drivers don’t come with back gaskets... just noticed that today when I actually went to screw then in semi permanently...
