Your other probe should be on the other side of the resistor, and I have never seen 2 decimal points on the same reading,,,,,vera strange...

Ok, Yes It kind of didn't help me. What the heck? I pulled the battery and put in a new one. No help. Ok so what would you like me to do next?

You need a pair of these, they are called mini-grabbers. They grip and hold where you hook them. Prevents shorting things out when your probe slips (and it will).

Lee has been doing a great job, stick with him step by step.

What does your meter read with it on the 200 ohm scale and the red and black probes touching each other (should be 0), also what does it read with the red on the same scale with the probes touching nothing (should be out of range or something like that)?

Well I went shopping and did not see anything in my price range for the meter, I am thinking I should get a soldering station? They look pretty cool. Any suggestions Lee on the meter or the station. I may just have to lay down the bucks for the fluke. I like the 115.

Weller WSD80 or 81 with WSP80 soldering pencil is a great general purpose solder station.
