Micro Seiki DQX-500 Turntable resto-mod

Got some time to work on the Micro but not before loosing 3 hours going down the “record player feet” rabbit hole. The original feet for this TT were destroyed but I was able to find some used feet from a different model that look to be the same. However Micro decided that their table did not need any leveling, so the original feet were just screwed to the plinth. This did not sit well with me so I decided to modify their design. After spending hours reading various opinions and some science about coupling, decoupling, “you have to do it this way”, “ you should never do it that way”, blah,blah, I decided to do my own redneck engineering.
I kept the Micro feet with their springs and then made them adjustable. The original feet are the black doughnuts, everything else I added from junk I had laying around.
I threaded the plinth, added aluminum spacers, rubber spacers and the beauty rings.
I need to wet sand and respray the platter again, I got a little heavy on the second coat of clear and got some runs…..aargh.

Looks like you’re set now but I was going to suggest the TangSpinner feet.

Plastic bit is screwed to the base and then the aluminum cone threads onto that for height adjustment.

And now, I want one, which I will cover with model parts to make it look more like the millennium falcon. Maybe a dust cover with an imperial star destroyer on it that hovers overhead…

Dang…had not seen those, simple and effective. Would have been a lot less work too. Might buy a set and compare them against my RN engineering since they are relatively cheep.

The second arm board is going to really challenge my RNE, due to the double wall casting of the plinth, I can’t just bolt a wing on the side. I have a couple ideas and plan to build some prototypes out of wood or plastic, then if I get a workable solution I can see if the local machine shop will fab it out of aluminum.
 
Yes, I've seen those (but don't own any)

You may want to consider sticking with wood, or a wood/aluminum sandwich for the armboard, depending on how far out in the wind it ends up being. Aluminum rings like a bell, and that may not work out for you in that application. Maybe a carbon sheet/aluminum sandwich but machining carbon sheet is an absolute NIGHTMARE. But I think you are going to want some sort of constrained layer construction for that.

True but the whole thing is made out of aluminum so there’s that. I guess I was just thinking it would look more finished in metal than painted wood. I like the sandwich idea, will definitely think about that.
