A lot of shielded wire has a metal braid, some have conductive foil...
 
And? The best coax cable always has braided shield. Only thing that I use. Small diameter, very low loss, Teflon (no shrinkback).

Are you thinking that there is no insulation on the outside? If that is what you are thinking, that is not the case. Fully insulated on the outside of the braided shield.


We use it for all our high speed SMA RF applications

Yes the jacket has a slight copper colored tinge to it. When measured on my Fluke meter on the 20 Megohm scale with probes 0.125" apart, each touching the jacket, the reading is open...infinite.
 
RG178 looks excellent as well. Does not have the silver plating on the braid shield so probably lower cost. I have not used RG178 but have used RG316 extensively.

Both RG178 and RG316 have polypropylene insulation jacket on them.

Mark - reply sent a short while ago. I use RG-316 a lot and RG-142 but the 142 is large in diameter. I've also used RG-178 where small diameter coax was required. All good stuff.
 
I used a 100w bulb in the DBT for the 400.
Should I use a 150w to test the 700?
 
Whoa... Navo’s coax came today- OUTRAGEOUSLY GREAT STUFF!
Better than what I expected, this is going to be perfect. Included were some extra wire samples, even more good stuff, along with some terminal strips. Christmas came early!
 
Something I don’t like here...
The only thing keeping the heat sinks on are the xsistor screws.
Stress! Those fins are a “grab” area for lifting this heap,
potential for backplane damage?

Mark, that's a lot of screws. If one screw is good for 10 Lbs, that's what??? 150 lbs???? (I just used my navy math...) No there are almost 50 screws holding it.... Relax. Jeeze :)

Which is why you solder the nuts on the backside of the backplane boards
