Klipsch La Scala Project

Then more sealer, and more sanding with 220. We used a palm sander, raw sandpaper, and sanding blocks, blowing the dust off with a compressor along the way. For once, I just wanted to spray them and Kevin wanted to keep working on them. I did want them to have a little look of 1970's K's, you know, a little character, but man we could have made them look like they were brand spanking new...

And ...............drum roll, please...........................................

Pretty shiny, and looking good thus far. We have them almost completed. The tops are not painted yet, and there are a few places that we may or may not "fix". So far, I am thrilled. I am ready to load them with the drives and see how she goes...I would say that on Wednesday they will be ready to be heard for the first time in probably 40 years.. I need to get the serial numbers and do some research...

And NO ....I am not walking sideways......I have felt that way a bunch of times, but I haven't figured out the camera phone orientation thing....

I will try to figure out why my pictures are all over the place. I am sorry that they are sideways and upside down. I have a new Galaxy 4 (used, but new to me...) and don't know the proper orientation (obviously) that will make the pics all be in the correct orientation. Plus I was in a hurry to get the pics UP on the site. Sorry.....I'll take more, and better pictures and post...

lol... Nope.. Thats was his phone by golly !!!! Here is a few more pics I took right before we painted... One maybe half painted !!

Then, turn on the WOPL 500 and STAND BACK.....

Holy Cow....Kevin and I ended up pointing the speakers to the outside of his workshop and walking about 20 yards away and listening to them.......freaking awesome....Man are they good....and hearing a new amp and new speakers together in a new location (the great outdoors) it was tremendous....Kevin and I couldn't talk to each other...the volume was sooooo loud, and crystal clear.....(I use to use the term transparent, but somebody ruined that word)...

WOW

WOW

WOW..

Thanks to Jer for the heavenly WOPL....it sounds outstanding...best amp I have EVER heard....

Thanks to Kevin for all the help and support in getting these old La Scalas up and running....

I know Kevin has more better pictures than I do. This new phone is driving me crazy.....all my pics are taken one the vertical instead of the horizontal...anyway, Kevin please share all you have on your camera...

I do think the La Scalas share a common sound signature with the Klipsch K's...definitely a familial sound, like a little brother, but I know the 2" BMS drivers with the Traxix horns and the cast version of the woofer DO sound better, but the La Scalas are close....very close.....in sound, Not quite the authority, and not quite the depth and breadth of the K's....but for those with WAF or room size constraints, these speakers sound damn good to me. They are going to replace my Altec Lansing A-7's and they absolutely reaffirm my desire to build the K's. My new system will have K's on the fronts, and La Scalas on the rears (for 5.1)....and I will keep my sub and Linus Arrays for TV watching, and non 5.1 use....( cause Kevin and I built them, and they sound really good )

I LOVE THE LA SCALAS ! !
