Here is another alternative if you want to save a little coin (depending on the price of the wire you'll need) and then you can roll your own. I think the 1400VA transformer would be cool. How many guys can say they built their own transformers. Also, if you were anal, you could lay each winding down pefectly, the manufacurers don't have the time nor the inclination to do that.

That looks like a good tyranny Johnny. I finally got my hands on a powertronix that has a 72-0-72 secondary, exactly what the 700 needs. I was in the scrounging stages to build one from scratch also.

mlucitt, I tried winding, won't do it again..alot of time.
Definitly keep the website for future when i need specific ratings though..thanks

Lee the altek 75-0-75 1.5k tranny is the one u suggested?
The 700 is a 2.5k rite?
We have to work on this with me, did you see the heatsinks? How do you think they do?
The only thing I have to get are the bias transistors and jackets they go in, I think Joe has the transistors..and of course the new rev c, if it works for the PL400..

Johnny, for a 400 tranny you need a 56-0-56 ct secondary. Take your single center tap times 1.4 to get your rectified voltage. 75 on the secondary would put you in the "hot" 700 catagory. the 56 in the cold 400.

Thanks to the generosity of fellow members the to-92 heatsinks will be plentiful here in a bit.

Hi Lee, sorry to hear you were so sick, hope your feeling better. Just take it easy don't overdo it.
I use remedies like Jack, smirnoff, bacardi and jim....lol
For the amp I was going to do a 400, with joes board it would be a 500....
What would be the k size for a 400 stereo amp?

Remember most consumer electronics are derated in the tranny department because of the "non-continous" nature of music. That's plenty of tranny.
