Re: Jerry's " ONLY ONE IN THE COUNTRY" Phase Linear 700 Thre

My dream which is about to come true is another set of bass bins for the horns, SET ON TOP of the existing set, then take the D-23 and Quad amp the whole mess. 2---White Oak 1000's on the 4 bass bins, a Spec 2 on the mids, and my sweet little Kenwood KA 5002 on the tweets.........................aw jeez.....................gives me chills just thinking about it.................

BTW---there will only be 3/4 of an inch between speaker and ceiling.........BRUAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What I would give to demo your system in that configuration. Lee, it's also interesting to hear of your personal sound test comparing the Spec to the upgraded PL 700. I hate conceding something is better than a Pioneer.

Nando, I wouldn't say they are "better" than my Spec's, but in my world of being "Aurally Asaulted" at times, the White Oaked 700's take me to that live concert level where the SPL's are just STOOOOOOPID!! the Spec's have a slight edge in the "soundstage" dept, but after I button up Jer's amp tonight and give it one more test listen, that caveat also may fall.

The final look before final bias setting and then the shewet metal gets laid back on, couple tracks off "Tales of the Inexpressible " then in the box.

Lee
This is the test card that I am using to pre-test finished board assemblies before I install them into amps. I will be mechanizing these in the near future to use spring loaded ICT type pogo pins instead of the solder tacked wires that I am using temporarily. This is a single channel tester and I move it from one side to the other in order to test both sides.

Joe..... that's beautiful man. If you show me a pic of the bottom of the breadboard I could make one. One question, why the resistor accross the input taps to the board??

Coming from you Joe that statement means a lot, thank you, I do try, to get better every time. Your time and energy and expertise that went into that board deserves no less than my best for the rest.

Hi Lee
The resistor is just tacked there to allow me to attach my signal source using the test clips. It is more convenient than attaching 2 separate wire stubs.

Joe, major improvement in DC offset, had 13.4 before the thump mod, 4 after, on the right 14.3 before, 8.2 after.

Hi Lee
Here are the pics of the back of the test board. I will show photos of my final production fixture after I get the pogo pins and get it fabbed up.

Re: Jerry's " ONLY ONE IN THE COUNTRY" Phase Linear 700 Thre

Joe--thank you, here's the biggie, i powered down running full tilt pre-amp on and cranked--------------- killed the power to the amp, 3 seconds then...........silence, AT FULL volume... a little pfft, that was it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Could barely hear it, BTW, the 10 amp main fuse will not take the inrush of a full on amp with input at 1.27 volts.
