The older than me Eico 377, or the 46" flatscreen??

I don't believe I've had that clean a square wave at that level. They usually start to round out long before that, with a little overshoot before it clips. this was rock solid till clipping.

Lee: you have got to rustle up some Judas Priest and play "You Got Another Thing Coming." I like your test runs best of all when you are loading up the speakers. Awesome!

Test listen is over. After "Vegas", "Vaccine" "Tales of the Inexpressible" "Last Days of Gravity", it has exceeded my expectations, the flute solo on the last track of "Tales" did not drive me from the room.........and it was.............LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jer.....ya notice there are no knobs on this one?? I'll let Roberty finish explaining that one!!

Re: Jerry's " ONLY ONE IN THE COUNTRY" Phase Linear 700 Thre

Following your success, nice work. The main board looks like a winner. I am waiting on some new input jacks from Angela Audio. Would you believe they sent me two RED ones. They are making good on the deal and sending me two more black ones. I just cannot put two red gold-plated jacks in this primo amp.

BTW, it took me three - one hour sessions to install all the components in the board. I did it in this order: 1) resistors (1 hour), 2) small caps (1/2 hour), 3) diodes (1/2 hour), 4) transistors (1/2 hour), 5) large caps (1/2 hour). Next time I will do the diodes first because they are so small.

Looking forward to my first power-up. Any additional advice?

HAVE SOME REALLY GOOD SPEAKERS AT YOUR DISPOSAL!! The K-Horns haven't been this loud since Larry's 700 left.
I put mine in like they were in the BOM. I checked each one off after installing AND checking orientation, worked for me.

Mark , I'll be interested to see how your power measurements pan out. A little confirmation would be nice. I know my procedures are correct, my equipment is up to snuff, just hard to believe these numbers when i can't justify em.

Nando, i actually turned the knob to the left during "Star Shpongled Banner" and the one after it, there was some stuff fixin to fall of some shelves onto the Cary's. Shut things down and restacked and got after it again. i believe we reached a new SPL record, and it was clean. I know now i have been tripping the current limiters on the Spec 2. Pematurely i might add. A little bench time for the Spec 2 is in order.

i had the Fluke monitoring the outputs and saw some 80-85 volt peaks, while on the AC ;line in ,saw some droop to 95 volts, interesting stuff. The line i had the amp plugged into was not my dedicated dual 30 amp rack feed.

Re: Jerry's " ONLY ONE IN THE COUNTRY" Phase Linear 700 Thre

Waiting on a transformer Jer. The Protect relays can not be powered from the board and still keep turn off thump from happening. When powered off the board they stay on till the caps are discharged and that's real close to turn off thump time, so, don't want tpo jeopardize that feature.

Besides, Robert won't be done building your customized, personalized deluxe model 2 volume knobs. We decided a knob that had control of that much wattage needed to be a little classier!!!!

That's cool. Yeah.. gotta watch the "thumps" with those Polk MW drivers. They're small and sometimes don't take kindly..
