I got the Compaq Evo online...good/bad/weird

Steven, some goodies will be headed your way this week courtesy of Lee and myself.

One is s Dell Computer with a fresh XP install and activated with an XP install disc with SP3 and the drivers slipstreamed in it. I tried to get all the updates slipstreamed but they just caused the disc to malfunction.

The computer is 2.2GHZ P4 with 1gb of memory and a 120gb hard drive. I put a DVD burner in it but the door sometimes sticks and you need a paper clip to eject it. sorry it was the only Pata DVD Burner I had here at home.

Also on it's way is a HP 20inch wide screen monitor that is brand new in the box. I did take it out for a few minutes today to verify that it works. It can display a maximum of 1600x900 and the computer is set to that resolution.

I did clean install of the OEM Xp with all the updates and loaded MS security essentials, and a free disc burning softwares for you. I also loaded up an MP2 decorder so Win Media player can play dvd's. I also put three browsers on it so you can choose between IE8, Firefox or Chrome.

I will ship the computer with a new keyboard and an optical mouse.

Happy Birthday and Enjoy. :)

Okay, that means ignore my question in your FS post.

I think there's possibly a 2.8 GHz P4 in another board in an old Pavilion tower (old P3 with a P4 MB).

I have more problems with finding good 3-6' stereo RCA cables at the moment. I'll need to get about 2 dozen this week at the thrift or dollar store. Some of the old ones have a few years on them and countless pushes and pulls and twists. 3 have simply come apart but most have a cracked wire.

Maybe tomorrow but Tuesday for certain.

I will round up some rca cables and send them out also, but they wont get there by tomorrow. :thumbright:

Ok Orange the computer and monitor are on the way. They should be there by next Friday. I would have got it out sooner but have been very very busy lately.

Hopefully I packed it well enough to stand the rigors of the USPS.

I'll have to send the re-install cd in the mail as i dropped the one I made and of course it got scratched.

I am also keeping my eyes open for a better computer wit ha quad or at least dual core cpu and a bunch of memory and a large HD.

An MATX form, 1 GB RAM or so, up to 250 GB internal and an external drive would be good

Here are three diagrams to help you.frontnback.GIF[/attachment:1aw0xi2g]inside.GIF[/attachment:1aw0xi2g]mounting diagram.GIF[/attachment:1aw0xi2g]

Just about everything I am likely to run across is going to be a Matx board. I would consider any thing less than 2gb or even 4gb of ram and a dual core cpu or better. Hd is likely to be in the 200 to 500gb range and os will be Vista or 7.

I doubt anything I run into will have a hinged mb panel. Most Matx boards are mounted upside down and on the left side of the case nowadays.

Web, I'm trying to tell y'all I have a Compaq chassis I duded up real swell and I'm trying to 'brew. I'm not even planning to use an MATX PS and I cut out most of the insides to build it custom. I wish I could find my USB floppy drive or older pics...

BTW my 'regulator' clock came off the wall this morning after I changed the C cell...I hope the 'glass' is okay so I can glue it together. I thought all hell was breaking loose or something but that was it's shot at being an 'alarm clock'...

At least it wasn't a drive-by like on New Years 2006.

If I could find them or the stinkin' iomega (citizen x-1) USB floppy to transfer them from a Sony MVC-FD73 Mavica, I surely would.

Or Shirley Wood, whomever that were. It's rained a lot of the week so I sleep.

I have THIS ASUS video card with S-Video and composite NTSC (RCA) outputs

http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/AGP_ ... CT_Series/

I also have a rather obsolete looking iomega DittoMax but it's complete except for a tape. Carrying case too. I'm sure there are no M&Ms to feed it.

That and the Audigy 2 card, my ATA100/133 PCI card and an ATX 588W PS I have would possibly get together and live in that case.
