My folks have some savings and Dad had some financial planning.

As for me, stamps is a question of when funds are added by the controlling bank that administers the funds electronically (EBT). Food stamps ulrimately are funded and administered by USDA. Now, is diasability gets here okay so will stamps most likely as they are priority item to the president and the Congress men who are working with him.

I only get $98 and no cash benefits are in my Oregon Trial EBT card. This really isn't enough to buy anytging for an entire month so I always use ~$120 of my SS money and then smal small visits to the two food banks I can use, as limited to twice a month and 12 times a year for the major, county bank, but still it's still all available to ne normally so I work with that.

Somebody offered me an SATA HDD earlier, didn't they?

I have a Dell Dimension 91900 that had a 160GB in it (GONE) and yes, I'm trying to get a 2.80 GB Pentium 4 in there and if it's all groovy it would make a killer media
computer...yes, I have oter SATA equipped noards,. If the offer is still out there. YES.

PS The computer guy is looking to see what that P4 would cost. The EVO isgood and ready to go when I get done with it. 60 feet of Cat 5 cable? I hop rhe breakage is in a spot I can salvage or if I need a router to add to the gateway in here? Funny but I never needed such a thing.

I passed the inspection and lost either a line or the jack in the livingroom so I was not wanted to crawl under the desk a second time and I decided to about kill myself rewiring the bedroom for the phones and the gateway.

Okay that worked FINALLY.

NOW, after grocery shopping a little and this, I'm going to sleep

That felt miserable.

Yes, Stuwee I can watch total crap in privacy, but I'm 1/2 dead.

Oh well, time to study my Extron 119 and put the Zenith Pro 880 to use.

Night.

I got a Pentium 4 2.8 GHz 512 L2 400 FSB at a local computer shop for $5.33...

I have a Dell Dimension 9100 that had no CPU and uses an SATA hard drive (was a 160 GB). It actually has two drive slots and it would be cheaper to put the drive in than adapt because I was with my friend as he bought his,

Even it the Dell is a daisy-pusher I have other P4 boards, mainly Intel D845 based that go to 2.8 with P4 and 3.07 GB with Celerys and their lousy L2 caches.

I'll go buy some good phone lines and fix under the desk. It's not easy in the bedroom as the angles are odd and it's haphazard but I do have a good connection. The monitor's on a stray AAL speaker (kinda short) and tho Optimus T-100 is too tall.

That's what I end up calling roughing it.

Yep, a techno-wuss.

Not yet. I was out paying bills and buying food and underwear (actually great Christmas presents when you are out of the house and stop whining about socks). AND INSOLES. My shoes are New Balance walkers and the soles are still okay, not turned over, after just over 2 months and I needs the cushioning to make them last longer. Mom got them at the Boise store for about half price (around $40) and since they seem to be a little more durable then others they're worth the shot--for Mom.

By Monday, I think. USPS closes early on Saturdays (noon) and mail is delivered in the afternoon (meaning I go to pick it up on Monday if I miss the carrier and they don't drop it off without me by my order).

Meanwhile I took stuff off the chair and the laptop appeared. I hope to see the camera soon. AND the KVM switch, the other Jensen dome. Pam Dawber as Mindy. A new renaissance for Nesbitt's/Nehi and Crush. :wwoutpics:

I believe the video on the laptop is gonna stay dead (external monitor) and I can't get online with the Evo for some reason so I'm gonna need some help (PM sent Jerry) finishing finally.

The LCD seems to have herpes or something, don't play a computer doc on TV either.

What's the malfunction-junction there on the EVO not getting online? Have you tried the "basics"

1. Drop to a command prompt.. "ping www.yahoo.com"/whaddayaget? ...
2. "telnet www.yahoo.com 80"/you should get an immediate blank screen with no error message/whaddayaget??...

Or is it you use that to "connect" with and it's not "connecting"? Need more infoze from ya...

If your viruses and spyware are updating themselves then obviously you have connectivity. Houston we have a problem. Maybe a banana peel in the modem?

Okay, having somehow tackled some of the same stuff i went through gett the laptop on line (so far), having rolled back into late March, having gone through the XP updates slowly and skipping the Adobe reader X update...cleaning the cache as well. It went blank-the laptop that is and seemed to be working although the CD drive wouldn't open.

I thought it could be a virus or exploit but the computer did this at random for indeterminite lengths started me thinking and I decided to use System Restore.

So I'm here now. I also tried lifting the fan up to be free flowing but that's not conclusive.

Next...

Oranges Computer Woes

Looks like it's going to skirt the Ida-nistas and cross the border.
