It was an all day fight, but Scott the "Cathy" amp now powers up with no bad attributes. Bias is now steady at .380 volts and offset at 3mv on the left and 5 mv on the right. We can finally feed it some waveforms and load test it. Not tonight though, just got called out, an emergency, and that's never good. Especially when it's a rancher that's callin.

Thanks for good news Lee. Hopefully all headaches are now past and only buttoning up Cathy will now be required.

KILLOWATT CATHY IN DA HOUSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
No substitute for another 230 watts per channel from the 400's, just no comparison, and with the abbreviated signal path on this one......it's so F&^%$# CLEAN!!

527 watts at 20hz
525 at 200hz
526 at 2000hz
487 at 20K hz

SPL:'s are on the loose in the mancave!!!!!!!!!

It has taken every amp test music I have thrown at it and done VERY well. had my doubts about being able to finish this one. My "parts changer " status revealed just how much more I have to learn. Scott-------I hope you are as happy with this as I am to see it finally done, it was a challenge, and the sad part---it didn't have to be. A slip of the hand and components started to fail in a hurry. It was surprising to say the least. Lessons were learned with no regrets, If only the rest of life could be so.

Was just planning on eventually white oaking her and the other one, I have 3 of the old ones in total, no B's. Have a 400 series 1 on the shelf too that'll need some lovin. I wonder why the original sounds different than the B's after white oaking?

I still am wondering how it can get better than what I have. Mine sounds very good at the moment. Mine was pushing over 525 watts. Could the BGs make that much difference? Jerry has heard I doubt if he remembers though. LOL

You know I'm not going to push mine hard though.

Could be we are not going through volume pots and a half a mile of shielded cable, I don't know. I haven't relocated the AC in on my B yet, and there really is not that much difference in them.
