Heresy I say. I am a big bealtes fan and like all of their group and individual stuff except for anything Yoko got involved with. Actually Wings music where Linda sang is pretty crappy also. :laughing9: I always thought they should have given her a mic and then conveniently not plugged it in. :toothy10:

Is that an old picture Nando? The system looks quite a bit different. I notice a TT I havent seen in the mix before and no MD decks?

Yes Ben, it's an older picture. The turntable is an Ariston Audio RD-80 Transcription Deck with a Grado M2+ moving coil cartridge. Previous to my Pioneer PL-630, this was one of my regular turntables. It's a great turntable but it's all manual control. I'm spoiled with the auto functions of the Pioneer. The Sony MiniDisc deck I've had for some time but it wasn't until I caught the bug in using it regularly that I patched it in permanently. Pat (Glantoir) had an influence in that respect. And Daren, too.

Daren: That has got to be a limited production unit. I don't believe the sound would be that great as a stand-alone system, but for a table-top model it would be. I like it, but I would have come up with a different model name for it to reflect its use of old componentry.

Edit: I'm glad we've got rid of the "plastic fantastic" 80's sound of this instrument nowadays, same as the horrible preset sounds of the Yamaha DX7 keyboard....

I like the idea but I don't find that unit attractive.

Of course, it is the SQ that really counts but the looks are too retro (even if this thing is a personal project). As for the name...

How does the Squamish Sonic Soother sound to you Nando? :toothy10:

Looking at the bigger picture, the idea of combining old with new is something that appeals. I would however, prefer it if the majority of manufacturers today mixed modern tech with good old-fashioned build quality which was so prevalent in days gone by.
 
Daren: We have enough old people in Squamish, I could sell those like hotcakes if it was renamed Squamish Sonic Soother. I was thinking "British Bulldog" as an another appropriate name. Not particularly beautiful in appearance, but everyone is drawn to it. You would have to offer a 25 year warranty, as bulldogs are noted for being reliable and trustworthy.
