Leave it to Dennis! I have an odd feeling I know why NAV'S AVATARS Thread is "restricted". :confused2::confused2: LOL!

I already have HAD my share of those fans. They tend to cost me more money and headaches in the long run. WAY more. So I think I will stick with Lee's option. :tongue10:
 
Alrighty then. So am I clear to start the tear down with the goals we have published? I can get a jump on a few things before Thurs when Lee's package arrives.
 
I've ben inactive lately

But I want to get back inot the swing of things. Who's is currently rebuilding PL 700B's? What is the backlog. I have the two that I never got finished. One is the clusterfrankenstein, with the LED's installed on the meters, with the weird fan in the chassis, and the other was the clean 700B which had the rare meter wiring scheme. With my Mother's illness and her eventual passing, I just got totally sidetracked and have accomplished nothing. But I would love to have the two 700B's brought back to WOPL life. If anyone is willing to take them on for me. I also have the two McIntosh MC2125 amps I blew (I think maybe caused by the preamp (SP9) like Lee built for one of our favorite members here. I am going to take them to Knoxville and have Mr. Terry DeWick repair them. I also have the M-125 mono blocks form the same folks that Scratch has diagnosed as probably oscillating and eating tweeters. One of them is complete, but needs to be gone through by a real bench guru to see where there might be some problems. The second block I never completed. It is probably 80% done, with the PCB being done and most of the other wiring on the road to completion. I'd love for someone here to take this pair and make any changes to the design or whatever and make them into a set of KT-120 mono blocks from Hades... Is anyone willing to take on any of these projects? Thanks guys....and FYI, Kevin and I are working on building a dedicated subwoofer for me...We have all the parts and pieces and are going to start this week on the build. My Klipsch LaScala project is also on hold, as I am considering mods to the cabinets to fully use the Crites woofers to their full potential. I think I can add some volume to the original cabinets to accomplish this..I would love to have them reach down into the 30's instead of the published 50 hz FR limit. So anyone else as far behind on projects?
 
Yeah, sure am. Still need to get parts ordered for Kev's and Chris' K's so I can finish them up, got 3-400's and 2 700's on the wayt and still working 90 hour weeks....
 
Sutton, Joe has taken the PL's to unchartered territory. We are now threatening to break the 200UV ( yep MICRO volt) noise floor barrier. With the Rev "D" board on the last spectrum analysis I was bouncing off the 200 number all the way from 10HZ to 80Khz. That's MICRO volts and 200 of those being one fifth of one MILLIVOLT. We're fixin to make history.....

Well it just so happens I am running speakers the size of snack vending machines, on a bi-amp configuration of 700B's. And Jerry happens to be revamping one with Joe's new Rev D board. Along with an overhaul. So to say specifically that there is someone out there working on 700B's, is just hapinstance. My hope is that if all goes well with my one Jerry has; then I will send him the other that controls my high end. It has only a WOAPL LED board. Where as this one Jerry has, I already had the Rev D board in, the light board, new bulk caps, rectifier, RCA's and new shielded cable for the pots. If he gets time, I will send him the other. So expect a wait! Ha ha!

Ok. Yes Jerr. Lee and I are done with the parts handling part and we will only be using what he has sent your way. You are approved to go on what you want to do on prepping before the parts arrive.

Have at it. And if you see any of my mistakes, let me know. Education is important to me. And knowing what I did wrong helps out a LOT! :-) Good luck, and enjoy!!

I'd post something here but Lee might kick my ass - so I'll restrain myself this time.

I thought it was a cute fan. It could screw up your total harmonic distortion and noise figure tho...

Nav..................I enjoy those fans just the same. No argument. I just like giving you trouble back every now and then. It's all good in MY book! I just don't know how the mod's feel about it? :confused2:
 
Hmmmm.... that seller is vaguely familiar... Dave, I really don't need a pair of rack handles, My B has them, just haven't put them back on since it's being WOPL'd. Sutton knows very well who to contact, he's had 6 done so far....


And the Ser I's look much better with the fold away types I put on them...

Six?! And I thought I was overkill with owning THREE? :happy4: Well hey? More power to the man of many Phases?!

If I had unlimited resources, those handles would be mine. It will be interesting to see if anybody here on the forum buys them? They are so beautiful.......I could cry. (sniff) :cry:

I am pretty sure that the original PL handles have 2 threaded holes in each handle end. This BUD picture shows only one.
 
Yep, this set got hijacked between the vendor and the chassis department. Phase added the extra set of holes to better match the chassis and bring them further to the outside.

That peaked my curiosity. So I went downstairs to take a look at the handles I left off that Mila Mod lab standard 700B Jerr has. Sure enough...only ONE set of threaded holes. Same with my other lab standard. But my 700 watt R.M.S. version has two sets? So for my education here.... Which amp came first? I assume the lab standards were the second incarnation. The guts looked more sophisticated than the older one I have. Condisering the RM.S. used only two bayonet base lamps for the logo and the lab standards had three. Plus the cutout for the logo in the face plate seems larger and better cut on the lab standards. Meters were jewel in my standards and honeywell in my R.M.S version. Fins are deeper too on the lab standards, as opposed to my 700 watt R.M.S. version. Thats where I get my assumption. Am I right or wrong on this? :-/

Ok. I somehow accidently ended up in "The Cave". Wow Nav. Do you know the one thing I noticed the most about your thread? Joe seems curiously absent. Lol! Guess he appreciates only the audio portion of Phoenix. Hmmm.....Me; I need to do some more (ahem) brushing up on my education of that thread. Excuse me while I go back and "read" start to finish. ;-)

Well ya know - Joe has to keep himself at bay since he's an engineer and if he showed up there I just might photo shop him in with one of the horse photos. :o
