Clair Bros Amp

Just put a couple up on the bay. I need to make some money to sink into the others. I have had worse units into my shop here.

You guys know, if you are interested in one of these Clair Bros amps (assume they do not work) I am open to offers on them. Just PM me. Wouldn't it be nice to use as a paperweight? I opened a couple up and they are clean inside, just the covers and screws need attention. I'm going to buy a box of machine screws and I was going to sand and paint the covers but I'm allergic to work. :)

I can also barter for bulk caps and all things to do some 700b resto' s. Handles, meters etc......

D500's

Pulled the 2 D500's out of the box, one doesn't look to bad except the cover is crusty and it needs cleaning. The second one is obviously a parts unit. No faceplate and it's guts were hanging out. I assume they are both inop and I am going to sell them. If you know anybody looking, let me know. I've had a little interest in them and I know nothing about them.

Hawaiian Rust

Perry,

As I suspected. They are a bit rusty due to the proximity to the Hawaiian salt-water. I am interested, however it will have to wait a couple months.

Yeah, the tops and bottom covers are a bit rusty. On the ones I'm going to keep, I'm gonna sand em down and piss can em...... The insides are pretty clean. I just posted a few more picture of the insides of the Clair's on ebay. Take a look at them. Not bad inside.

That 500 is a monster and hopefully someone will resurrect it. Make it better, stronger, more reliable

Hi
PM me what you want for these 500's
I have one now and could balance the setup with two and have spare parts with these

Thanks to Perry I will have my work cut out for me
With the 500's

I am going to see if I can clean out the out system wiring and build a fully comp with possibility of new control board

Clair Sticker inside some of the amps

Thought there might be some interest in this for documentation purposes. This is the sticker I am encountering inside of these Clair amps. I guess these are considered Pro Models. I'm going to see if I can order this part number......

Perry, the PRO700 was released in 1982. Perhaps these are the protos of the line to be offered? Maybe they stuck with the original faceplates and just added the Clair Bros script? They looked like this. I think this is when Pioneer bought the name??? They look similar with different lettering. The 700 Series II came out in 1978

So you plugged some in? That one you imaged looks pretty nice!

I plugged in a couple but I couldn't test since I did not have anything to fit the inputs. They are like guitar jacks and I don't have anything ginned up YET... They don't use RCA style inputs but on the ones I rebuild, I may change that.

Perry, could you post a few interior shots of one so we can see what they might have used in comparison to the PRO700?

The Source/Radio shack sells phone plug to rca cables in singles. I have several pairs of their molded wires, as well as, some sets I have made.

1 set I made quickly by removing 1 wire from a component set, and chopped it in the center and added phone plugs to the chopped ends.

Mike made me a stupid killer high quality set of RCA to 1/4" jacks fo I could run the Aerosmith amp and the Peavey. Freaking things are masterpieces, super heavy duty!!!! If the Clair amp works that is coming they will be used to see if I can blow up this pair of Klipsch KP250s I have. I have this gut feeling that most of these amps work just fine if the fuses are not toasted in them which would point to an issue

Perry, you made several people here wicked happy, I plan on sending you some other non-audio stuff just because you gave us such good deal. I just need to know what kind of music you like. I have a feeling our tastes are very similar though LMAO!!!!

One amp I listed had DC on one of the outputs. Don't hook up until you check them out. I make no promises. I would hate to see somebody explode a nice set of speakers.
