WassupYa Mang?
Hey George,

Could it be a cultural thing here? "Knockoff" in our end of the world has a lil bit of a negative connotation - "replica" may be a better choice. Sort of like "convict" means something different "down under"/o'er there?

It's all good guys... :downtown::hello1: (holy shit, is Jer back again? maybe... LOL.. )

It seems I missed an argument in my name…..

TheWOPLwhiffer Let's clear things up. I really don't know how I got so misunderstood.
My remark re "knockoff' was in no way meant to be derogatory and more importantly, I was referring to the faceplate ONLY. Please don't be so sensitive.

I had three PL700 II Clair Bros.. One was close to Mint which I've had for a while, and two were pulled from a truck rollover. One 700 was damaged and the front faceplate was ruined, but repairable other wise and the other [or what was left of it] I sent to Lee to become D2's WOPL.
All I want is a replacement original faceplate for my faceless one so I can have a matching pair. It was mentioned earlier that these new replacement front plates were slightly different and I was just stating that I want my 700's to be the same and match.
As Lee said, I have a preference for my collection of everything/anything inc PL's to be original. I didn't say anything about me not liking WOPL's or that they are inferior. I wouldn't mind one myself, but the logistics are a nightmare, and I'm just as happy D2 having one instead and I really don't need one. I've been down the high SPL road now for a very long time now. I had Volume for 30+ years, so I'm relaxing from it now. My current system runs two Amcron Macrotech 2400. So yes, that's close to a 6Kw system and I say with most conviction, that 6Kw is no better than one or two Kw. Your ears and body can only take so much in enclosed area, but I just have it coz' I can….. I am a retired International touring [retired] Live Sound Engineer that's quite used to handling 100Kw systems so please don't read into my comments any negativity about WOPL's OR 'knockoffs'.

So, all I was saying is…. anyone have a Phase Linear 700 II Clair Bros. Faceplate available that's not a "knockoff"?

MarkWComer and Lee thank you for your support on what I was trying to say...

No such things as bad days, just bad moments
Like so???? I stick em on the side, by the outputs....
Oh, now you've done it - showing me something I don't have. Since it was actually Jerry who did the WOPL conversion on my 700B, would that qualify it for one of those? If so, and if you have any to spare, how can I get one?

I've totally lost the plot....
I have these now. I can part with a not perfect original

Damn….. So close, yet so far…..
[BTW, I forgot to mention I'm in Australia. That'd cost me my arm and last kidney to buy and ship to here, and If I'm gonna have to pay that much, I really should hang out for a black one. ….. but very tempting nonetheless.]

Thanx….

ps: I'm freaked out to think u have the 500 panel too! My mate's got a 'mint' Dual-500, and it sounds "to die for".

Ok Perry and Jer, time for some Navy war stories when Jer was just a fresh face, I hear you have some history and it's amazing to think that you two somehow find each other again on a WOPL board!!!! How fucking cool is that???

Pretty friggin' wild Ron.. I haven't seen Perry in 25 friggin' years, when he was my 2nd supervisor at my first duty station. He was old n crotchety way back THEN. (hahah.. sorry Perry). Had to remind him I was the dumbass with the broke-dick Monte Carlo that could barely make it up and down the Coronado bay bridge, who got this "idea" in his young mind to hack saw off the AC compressor - and leave it in his 'supe's front yard.
The shop crew back then was a pretty interesting "collection" - Looking back, the Nav probably went through all the psyche evals and whoever was borderline crazy got the same "job" in the Avionics ratings... :toothy5::compress::hello1::blob8:

Yep.. Nothing like being chased around by a Filipino MasterChief yelling "clean this clean this.. it's dirty dirty!!!" not 2 minutes after one of his MS's made the mess and walked away from it. Good times!! :shaking2:
