Changing a Laser

It is in the garage and I'm not. LOL Just don't feel like it. Do you know how many times I've had that thing apart.

Larry

Well I'm scared to put the laser back in. After looking at what I did to the Chip. Will try to fix it. Get out the picks.

Larry

Doc
Took the solder off. Still says no CD. I have the chip. God I hate doing something I have never done before. LOL Heck i don't want to take this apart again. LOL

Larry

Welcome to my world, you'll soon have a loader to occupy your time.

He told me to unsolder the shorting solder. That is done. Still nothing. Every thing originates from the chip. It is the control chip. Will do more TS and see; but I think it is the control chip.

I think nacdoc told you the chip wasn't the problem, no?

And don't make me go search for that with a Huh? responce, I'm not your bitch

Then whose bitch are ya?????

Do you see red laser light? Don't touch the chip until you see red!
What is the whole model number? I may have a complete mech and board for you.

Doc I'm seeing red; but it isn't the laser. Before it didn't raise the disc up. LOL It is now. LOL go figure.

Larry

Cdm 14 ? What brand? I assumed you had a Sony, but it looks like it is a sony KSS-213 mechanism. At some point post photos of the board and I'll find one for you.
Now that you have red light....when you changed the motor did you measure anr reset the disc table height? The distance between the lens and disc is critical.

No laser light. LOL I was mad and seeing red. Yes it is a sony. I have 3 or 4 of the SMs for this transport. No adjustments were called for. Just pull the laser and put the new one in. I forgot about the blob. LOL Motor is soldered right to the board. No adjustment. Here are some pics. Thanks Doc.
